Toyota Vietnam recalls Veloz, Avanza, Yaris Cross models

On January 19, 2024, Toyota Vietnam officially announced the implementation of the "Front Shock Absorber Nut Tightening Recall Program" for the Veloz, Avanza, and Yaris Cross models. Additionally, they also launched the "Front Brake Caliper Dust Boot Replacement Program" for the Veloz, Avanza, and Raize imported vehicles, aiming to ensure customer satisfaction.

The program will be officially implemented by Toyota Vietnam from January 19, 2024 at all Toyota dealerships nationwide. The list and number of affected vehicles in Vietnam are as follows:

1. “Tighten front shock absorber bolt on Veloz, Avanza, Yaris Cross models” recall program

The front shock absorbers of the affected vehicles use bolts to attach to the car. Due to a design issue, the tightening force of the shock absorber bolt may be insufficient. During vehicle usage, the shock absorber bolt may become loose, resulting in abnormal noises. In the worst case, the shock absorber bolt may come off, causing instability during vehicle usage.

Customers with affected vehicles will receive notifications from Toyota dealerships to bring their vehicles for inspection. Based on the inspection results, the customer’s vehicle will undergo the tightening of the front shock absorber bolt. The estimated time for inspection and repair/replacement is approximately 0.5 to 2.5 hours per vehicle.

2. Customer Satisfaction Program “Replace front strut dust cover on Veloz, Avanza, and Raize imported models”

The front strut is equipped with a dust cover to prevent dust and water from entering. During the assembly of the front strut assembly, the assembly tool may come into contact with the dust cover, causing damage to the dust cover. If water enters the dust cover and causes leakage, the brake disc may corrode prematurely.

Customers with affected vehicles will receive notifications from Toyota dealerships to bring their vehicles for inspection. Based on the inspection results, the customer’s vehicle will undergo the replacement of the front strut dust cover/front strut assembly. The estimated time for inspection and repair/replacement is approximately 1.3 to 2.4 hours per vehicle.

Toyota Vietnam recommends customers who own vehicles affected by these 2 programs to promptly bring their vehicles to Toyota dealerships nationwide for free inspection and replacement.

For imported Toyota vehicles that are not authorized by Toyota Vietnam and are affected by these 2 programs, upon receiving a request from the owner, Toyota Motor Vietnam will verify the detailed information. After the issue is confirmed and approved, the Toyota dealership will proceed with the inspection and free replacement for the customer.
