R18 One Eight C is a custom motorcycle designed by legendary bike builder Paul Yaffe, inspired by the iconic Mercury Lead Sled of the 1950s.
Renowned motorcycle designer Paul Yaffe has unveiled his latest masterpiece, a one-of-a-kind custom build of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental. Named the R18 One Eight C, this bagger combines classic aesthetics with the distinct style of BMW. Yaffe spent months studying the R 18 Transcontinental before embarking on the customization process. His goal was to create a unique bagger that still captures the essence of BMW.
The design of the R18 One Eight C draws inspiration from the iconic Mercury Lead Sled of the 1950s. To make this custom build stand out, Yaffe fitted it with a front wheel measuring 26 inches by 5.5 inches. The wheel is machined from a single block of aluminum, weighing a hefty 181 kg, and comes with a specially cast front tire.
To accommodate the oversized wheel, the frame of the bike has been stretched and raked, while the front suspension has been redesigned for optimal handling. The bodywork is equally impressive. Yaffe and his team fabricated unique parts, such as the steel front fender and the chin spoiler. Additionally, the bike is equipped with a new handlebar setup, upgraded suspension, and exhaust system.
Finally, the custom build is finished with a glossy black paint job complemented by a red seat. Yaffe stated that the uniqueness of this build lies in its clean lines, so it only required a minimalistic paint job to highlight the beauty of the overall design.
The R18 One Eight C will have its official debut at the MBE Show in Verona, Italy.
