During the launch event of the new luxury SUV Century last year, Toyota announced the TaylorMade ordering system for this vehicle line. Through the Toyota TaylorMade system, customers can customize their Century with personalized details such as Rolls-Royce-like reverse-opening doors, MPV-style sliding side doors, or even a convertible version.

To showcase its capabilities, Toyota quietly unveiled a convertible version of the Century at the Grand Sumo Tournament in Japan. This convertible SUV was specially made according to the requirements of a retired sumo wrestler. The owner plans to use this Toyota Century Convertible as a parade car for future sumo tournaments.

Not only removing the rigid roof, this Toyota Century Convertible has also been improved in terms of interior space to fit its role as a parade car. The interior space has enough room for sumo wrestlers to sit comfortably, while the body and suspension have been reinforced to accommodate the weight of the passengers.

Currently, there is not much information regarding the features of this Toyota Century Convertible. However, it would not be surprising if the car retains most of the features from the hardtop version.

The luxury SUV, nicknamed “the Rolls-Royce Cullinan of Japan,” features notable equipment such as front/rear LED lights, 20-22-inch wheels, a digital dashboard, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display.

Under the hood, the car is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine with a displacement of 3.5L, two electric motors, and an e-CVT transmission. The gasoline engine generates a maximum power of 262 horsepower and a torque of 335 Nm. The corresponding figures for the electric motors on the front axle are 182 horsepower and 269 Nm, while the rear electric motor produces 109 horsepower and 168 Nm. In total, the car has a maximum power output of 406 horsepower.

With two electric motors on both axles, the car features a 4WD system known as E-Four. In addition, it is equipped with a Dynamic Rear Steering rear-wheel steering system and a Rear Comfort mode to ensure a smooth stop without affecting the comfort of the rear passengers.

The pricing for the Toyota Century Convertible is still kept confidential. Meanwhile, the standard Toyota Century starts at 25 million yen (approximately 4.15 billion VND) in Japan.
