In a recent statement, the chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation declared that electric vehicles can only account for 30% of the market share, while the remaining portion belongs to hybrid cars, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and internal combustion engine vehicles.

Mr. Akio Toyoda believes that currently, over a billion people in the world are living in areas with electricity shortages. Therefore, it will be extremely difficult for this segment to have access to electric cars.

In addition, not everyone has the need to use electric cars. Government support alone cannot encourage people to use electric cars. Hence, vehicles with internal combustion engines will continue to exist sustainably and are difficult to phase out.

Toyota predicts that in the future, electric vehicles will account for 75% of new car sales.

Despite Toyota’s apparent lack of interest in electric vehicles, the company has planned to sell 1.5 million electric cars per year by 2026 and 3.5 million cars by 2030.
