In an announcement posted on the website on January 26th, Toyota Vietnam stated that they will resume delivering the Avanza Premio manual transmission (MT) to their dealerships starting from today (January 26th, 2024) after receiving instructions from Toyota Corporation and reporting to the authorities in Vietnam.

Toyota Vietnam has announced that the Avanza Premio MT model has been confirmed to meet safety and environmental standards by independent certification agencies overseas.

Previously, on December 20, 2023, in Japan, Daihatsu Japan organized a press conference to announce anomalies in the company’s vehicle certification procedures. According to the investigation results of the third-party independent committee and the official announcement from Toyota Global, Vietnam has one affected model, which is the Avanza Premio MT.

Specifically, there was one inappropriate modification in the Avanza Premio MT model during the emission and fuel consumption testing abroad. However, this modification does not affect the safety and quality of the vehicle. In addition, the Avanza Premio MT models in Vietnam comply with the testing regulations and are certified to meet Vietnamese standards. Therefore, customers can rest assured when using the vehicle.

Despite this, Toyota Vietnam has proactively suspended the delivery of Avanza Premio MT models to dealers since December 21, 2023, to await instructions from the Toyota Group, as the certification of this vehicle model abroad is still being evaluated by independent testing and certification agencies.

After receiving instructions from the Toyota Group and reporting to the management agency of Vietnam, Toyota Vietnam will resume delivering Avanza Premio MT vehicles to dealers from January 26, 2024.
