On January 28, a group of foreign travelers embarked on a cross-border journey through 4 Southeast Asian countries starting from Ho Chi Minh City.
The group consists of 62 British tourists and 31 vintage cars manufactured between 1929 and 1974.
The convoy arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on January 27 and started their journey on January 28 at the Dai Nam race track in Binh Duong.
According to the itinerary, the 31 vintage cars will travel from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, then return to the Northwest region of Vietnam and conclude in Hanoi on February 23. The daily distance for the convoy is estimated to be around 300 – 450 km. The total journey covers 6,866 km.
This vintage car rally in Vietnam features legendary cars, some of which are 80 – 90 years old.
Notable examples include the 4 vintage Bentley cars: Bentley 1/2 Le Mans (produced in 1927), Bentley DHC (produced in 1936), Bentley Speed 8 (produced in 1947), Bentley R Type (produced in 1953), and 3 vintage Volvo cars from Sweden, including 2 PV544 models from 1961 and 1 144 model from 1973.
Among the 31 cars, there are 5 rare Mercedes cars: Mercedes 230 SL (produced in 1966), Mercedes 350 SL (produced in 1971) (2 cars), Mercedes 450 SLC (produced in 1972), Mercedes 350 SL (produced in 1974).
Porsche, another renowned brand, is also represented with 3 cars in this cross-country journey, including Porsche 911 (produced in 1972), Porsche 911 Targa (produced in 1973), Porsche 911 (produced in 1974).
The group also features iconic American muscle cars by Ford, such as Ford Coupe V8 (produced in 1939), Ford Mustang Convertible (produced in 1965), Ford Escort (produced in 1972), Ford Escort RS1600 (produced in 1973).
There are also other vintage cars like: 1929 Chrysler 75 Roadster, 1932 Rockne Six 75, 1934 Aston Martin Mark II, 1938 Chevrolet Fangio, 1961 Jaguar Mk2, 1971 Fiat 124 Spider BS1, and 1972 Rover P6.
On the Rally the Globe fanpage, the participants of the journey expressed their excitement and anticipation for exploring Southeast Asia. They believe that the routes and landscapes in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries are truly amazing, and the journey will undoubtedly bring them unexpected challenges.
