According to the statistics conducted by Motor1, a total of 43 passenger car models have been introduced by global car manufacturers in Q2. This number only includes next-generation or completely new cars and does not count facelift versions.

China’s cars account for nearly half of the list of new cars in Q2 with a total of 19 vehicles launched between April and June.

Germany ranks second in terms of the number of new cars launched in Q2 with 5 vehicles, while Sweden also introduced 2 new models to the community.

From April to June, the European markets have introduced a total of 9 new models, including Renault Rafale (France); Smart #3, Volkswagen ID.7, 2 variants of Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series (Germany); Cupra Tavascan (Spain) along with Polestar 4 and Volvo EX30, both from Sweden.

India introduces 4 new car models, while Japan also launches 5 models. The United States and Mexico both introduce 2 new cars in Q2, while Indonesia and Brazil also present one car in the same period.

In Indonesia, the Toyota Yaris Cross was introduced in mid-May as a model specifically for the Southeast Asian market and is expected to arrive in Vietnam in the future.

As the world’s leading car manufacturer, Toyota has introduced a total of 7 new car models in Q2.

From April to June, Toyota introduced the fourth-generation Tacoma pickup truck for the North American market and the Yaris Cross for the Southeast Asian market as mentioned above. Meanwhile, the luxury car brand Lexus introduced the Lexus LM minivan for Asian and European markets. The fourth-generation of the large-sized MPV Alphard that just debuted is also one of the new models recently introduced by the Toyota group in Q2.

General Motors is the second-largest global car company, following Toyota, with the launch of 5 new car models in Q2. Geely, a brand from China, ranks third with the introduction of a total of 4 car models from April to June.

Statistics from Motor1 show that the SUV trend continues to be strong, with 61% of the newly launched models in Q2 falling into this segment.

Specifically, car manufacturers worldwide have introduced 25 SUV models, including 13 models from China, 4 from Europe, 3 from India, 3 from Japan, and one each from the US and Indonesia markets.

In addition, car manufacturers have also introduced 5 new sedan models, 5 hatchback models, 2 wagon models, 3 MPVs, 2 pickup trucks, and one sports car to customers.
