The South Korean automaker did not disclose any specifications of the EV5, but stated that detailed information about the product will be provided at the EV Day event in October. However, a post on the Korean Car Blog last month revealed some information about this new model.

Specifically, the EV5 – roughly the same size as the Sportage – will have a 400V charging system instead of the 800V E-GMP platform like the EV6 and EV9 to reduce costs. The electric SUV will also be equipped with different battery packs, depending on the market. The battery pack for the compact SUV of Kia sold in South Korea and international markets will be larger than the current EV6 (77.4 kWh) at 82 kWh, extending the maximum operating range of the vehicle to over 600 km. Meanwhile, in China, the car will be equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.

In terms of design, KIA said it has applied the “opposites united” design philosophy to the EV5, blending visual contrasts to create a unique and futuristic design. In addition to the boxy design and unique wheels, the compact all-electric crossover also features a “Digital Tiger Nose” in the front, reminiscent of the signature tiger-nose grille of the brand. In essence, this is truly a smaller version of the EV9.

The cabin space is also inspired by the EV9, using a wide and minimalist dashboard like the EV9, as well as a panoramic infotainment screen, combining a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch display.

In addition to the 64-color interior ambient lighting system, other specifications include 4 interior color combinations and 5 seating styles. Meanwhile, the exterior of the car has up to 10 paint color options, allowing users to choose freely.
