With top value that surpasses other affordable 7-seater MPV models, the Honda BR-V is a versatile family car that stands out in the market.

Sophisticated design with SUV elements

If we group the 7-seater MPV segment into two categories, the Honda BR-V would fall into the sophisticated and traditional category. However, it leans more towards an SUV model compared to most models in the segment.

The dimensions of the BR-V are 4,540 x 1,800 x 1,750 (mm), with a wheelbase of 2,780 (mm), which is not outstanding in the segment. Nevertheless, these dimensions provide enough space for 7 passengers and make it easy for the BR-V to navigate through the city.

One of the standout features of the Honda BR-V is its “top class” ground clearance, which allows for confident driving even in bad road conditions or over curbs. This high ground clearance also contributes to the car’s robust and versatile feel, resembling SUVs.

In terms of exterior equipment, the Honda BR-V competes with rivals in terms of advanced options. It boasts a full LED lighting system, including fog lights, with automatic turn on/off and automatic high/low beam adjustment.

Additionally, the BR-V features the largest wheels in the segment, with tire size 215/55R17. The wide tire surface and large alloy wheels not only enhance agility and aesthetics but also improve grip on the road, resulting in a better driving experience and increased safety.

Furthermore, the Honda BR-V comes with a smart key that integrates a remote engine start feature, allowing the engine and air conditioning to be turned on before getting into the car, which is particularly useful in hot weather.

The exterior of the Honda BR-V may not be extremely modern, but it exudes a youthful and sophisticated vibe, making it a suitable choice for individuals over 30 who value durability and elegance in a car for both work and leisure.

Premium interior space

In the mainstream brand Honda, the term “premium” is more fitting than “luxurious” or “expensive”. This applies to all models, from City, Civic, Accord to HR-V, CR-V, and now BR-V.

The interior of the Honda BR-V can be accurately described as “premium”. Compared to rivals in the same segment, the interior details are meticulously finished. From the leather materials to the buttons and decorative trims, everything exudes aesthetics and provides a satisfying tactile feel.

In the Honda BR-V, you won’t find uneven leather edges, sticky buttons, or cheap plastic parts. Everything is of high quality, providing both comfort and visual appeal.

Although the interior space of the Honda BR-V may not be the most spacious in its segment, it still meets the needs of carrying 7 people on long trips or 5 people with luggage for weekend getaways. (Note: the third row of seats is not suitable for people taller than 1m7)

The Honda BR-V is equipped with convenient features such as automatic air conditioning with vents and charging ports for all rows of seats. The car also features a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integration for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moreover, the car comes with a 6-speaker audio system that fulfills the basic entertainment needs of a family, though it may not have standout features compared to other models.

One feature that may be considered redundant in the Honda BR-V is the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Since this is a family car with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine paired with a CVT transmission, it is not inherently sporty.

If given the choice, many people would prefer to have the paddle shifters replaced with an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold feature, as it would be more practical for daily city driving.

Top-notch driving experience

The Honda BR-V is equipped with a VTEC 1.5L naturally aspirated engine, paired with a CVT automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It boasts a power output of up to 119 horsepower and a peak torque of 145 Nm. Although not considered powerful based on numbers alone, the BR-V is strong enough to overtake and agile enough for various road conditions.

However, the true value of the BR-V can only be fully appreciated through firsthand experience. Sitting in the driver’s seat, shifting gears, pressing the gas pedal, and turning the steering wheel, one can feel the optimal utilization of power and the seamless transmission of force to the front wheels, resulting in an enthusiastic driving experience.

While the BR-V’s power output of 119 horsepower is not considered remarkable, it is still sufficient for acceleration and maneuverability in various road situations.

Similar to other Honda crossovers like HR-V or CR-V, the steering wheel of the BR-V offers precise steering and feedback from the road surface, showcasing Honda’s traditional strength in this aspect.

However, the BR-V’s sound insulation capabilities are only acceptable and not better than other cars in the same price range. This might not be a strict requirement for a car priced below 1 billion VND.

Furthermore, the BR-V is equipped with Honda Sensing active safety technology package, which includes modern features like collision mitigation braking system, adaptive headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and keeping assistance, as well as pre-collision warning.

No other 7-seater MPV offers such a comprehensive set of active safety features. Honda’s decision to provide a complete active safety package on all their products can be seen as a confident statement, emphasizing the importance of safety for all vehicle owners, regardless of vehicle type or price.

One possible improvement is upgrading the camera system to a 360-degree camera system, providing the driver with a much broader view, in addition to the existing LaneWatch camera (right side camera) and absence of front/rear sensors.

In summary, the Honda BR-V offers practical value and is worth the money. This is reflected in numerous prestigious awards in the region, as well as its 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety standard.

With its internal strengths, the Honda BR-V will undoubtedly make its mark in the Vietnamese market, competing against dominant Japanese or South Korean rivals in the 7-seater MPV segment.
