Toyota and Lexus Cars with Standard Automatic Braking System Since 2017
Toyota and Lexus will be equipping almost all of their vehicle models with automatic braking systems as a standard feature by the end of 2017, surpassing the recent requirement set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States by four years.
The automatic braking system is now available as an optional low-cost feature on most products from 2 brands and is included in the Lexus Safety System+ and Toyota Safey Sense packages.
Since 2017, Toyota and Lexus vehicles have come standard with automatic braking in the US.
“At Toyota, our commitment is to develop better transportation options for everyone,” said Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America. “Advanced driver assistance technologies can significantly enhance passenger safety in the event of a collision.”
The driver assistance technologies are designed to provide support in 3 key areas: preventing or minimizing frontal collisions (including passenger protection), aiding drivers in maintaining their lane, and improving road safety during nighttime driving.
When stopping at a red light, drivers only hope for the traffic signal to quickly turn green so they can continue their journey. Understanding this mindset, Ford is experimenting with a new technology that turns their wishes into reality.
