In December 2022, Toyota provided a sneak peek of the next-generation C-HR with the Prologue concept. Now, the Japanese automaker has unveiled the commercial version of the new C-HR. The car showcases a distinct design language that retains the appealing look of its predecessor, making it stand out in the crowded small crossover segment.
Beforehand, we already knew that the 2024 C-HR would adopt a “super coupe” shape along with 20-inch wheels featuring a two-tone paint scheme. At the front, the car sports an assertive design highlighted by sharp C-shaped LED headlights.
The sides of the car feature refined lines and triangular folds, lending it an elegant and modern look. Notably, the wheels and side mirrors maintain a conventional design instead of adopting smaller cameras. Moreover, the car comes equipped with integrated flat door handles.
Moving to the rear, we can spot wider taillights and a sporty spoiler mounted on the roof.
In terms of dimensions, the all-new C-HR measures 4,360 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, 1,564 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm. It is built on the TNGA-C platform, which is also shared with the Corolla, Corolla Cross, and all-new Innova Zenix.
Stepping inside the cabin, users will be greeted by a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display. Voice control, Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto support are all available features.
Higher-end versions of the C-HR will offer a heads-up display, a 64-color ambient lighting system, a panoramic sunroof, and a JBL sound system. The GR Sport Premiere Edition will feature red highlights and GR badges to emphasize its sporty aesthetics.
The new C-HR is expected to be exclusively available in Europe and will be offered with hybrid powertrains. The 1.8L and 2.0L plug-in hybrid options will only come with front-wheel drive, while the 2.0L hybrid version will be available with an optional AWD system. Power-wise, the base 1.8L engine delivers a combined output of 140 horsepower, followed by the 2.0L engine with 198 horsepower, and the potent 223 horsepower PHEV powertrain.
In terms of performance, the base hybrid 1.8L version can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. The 2.0L FWD version achieves the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.1 seconds, or 7.9 seconds with the AWD system. As for the PHEV variant, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 180 km/h. The PHEV version allows for pure electric mode driving up to 66 km.
In terms of safety, all variants of the C-HR will come equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite. Additionally, owners can control the C-HR remotely via the MyToyota app, enabling features such as air conditioning and parking.
