The pre-launch images offer a sneak peek of the all-new Kia Sonet compact SUV, which adopts the brand’s fresh design language.

Sonet is a compact SUV closely related to the Hyundai Venue and positioned below the Seltos in Kia’s product lineup. Initially introduced in 2020, the Sonet was primarily focused on India, China, and emerging markets. However, as trends evolved, some of its original design elements became outdated, prompting the need for innovation.

The upgraded Kia Sonet is set to be launched later this year. Ahead of its official debut, images of this South Korean SUV have been unveiled by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The 2024 Kia Sonet features the brand’s new design language, similar to its “big brother” Seltos 2023. The vehicle showcases a refreshed logo with stylized KIA lettering, replacing the oval emblem. The extended headlights incorporate LED daytime running lights and new turn signals with a star map-inspired design.

The highlight at the rear is the redesigned taillights with C-shaped graphics, connected by a LED strip that stretches across the trunk. Additionally, the front and rear bumpers of the car have also undergone refinements.

It is currently unclear whether the 2024 Kia Sonet’s engine will receive an upgrade. In its current version, the car is offered with three engine options. The first option is a 1.2L petrol engine delivering a maximum power of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 115 Nm. The second option is a turbocharged 1.0L petrol engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5L diesel engine generates a maximum power of 116 horsepower and a maximum torque of 250 Nm.
