When it comes to exterior design, the all-new 2024 Lexus GX stands out from its predecessor with its fresh body design. The GX 2024’s sides evoke the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series model.

The slim Lexus grille complements the vertical design, creating a cohesive front end that seamlessly blends with the rest of the body. The combination of the headlights and LED daytime running lights adds a sharp touch, while the large boxy mirrors pay homage to the classic Cruiser style.

At the rear, the design remains elegantly simple. An LED strip runs across the width of the car’s tail, complemented by the newly standard power-adjustable tailgate.

Compared to the previous generation, the 2024 Lexus GX is longer by 70 mm and wider by 95 mm, with an additional 60 mm added to the wheelbase. This luxury SUV measures a total length of 5,005 mm, a width of 2,117 mm, and a height ranging from 1,915–1,935 mm depending on the type of tires.

The Lexus GX 2024 will be offered in 6 versions: Premium, Premium+, Luxury, Luxury+, Overtrail, and Overtrail+. The latter two are completely new editions optimized for off-road capabilities.

In addition to the rugged two-tone exterior, the 2024 Lexus GX Overtrail stands out with its All-Terrain 33-inch tires wrapped around 18-inch standard wheels. The GX Overtrail models feature muscular, bulging wheel arches to accommodate the tires within the body, while the aluminum skid plate is a standard feature.

The Overtrail+ models boast improved front seats designed for “optimal off-road comfort,” featuring massage and additional power-adjustment functions for the driver’s seat.

Transitioning to the new generation, the Lexus GX 2024 replaces the V8 engine with a twin-turbo V6 engine, boasting a displacement of 3.4L. The new engine delivers a maximum power of 349 horsepower and a peak torque of 650 Nm, increasing power by 48 horsepower and 46 Nm compared to the previous V8 engine.

Currently, the 2024 GX is only available with one engine option, but Lexus promises to introduce a hybrid drivetrain system in the near future.

The V6 engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, accompanied by a standard full-time 4WD system and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

Inside, the new Lexus GX features significant improvements in its interior, drawing inspiration from the Lexus RX and LM. The dashboard sees lowered air vents to accommodate a large 14-inch screen that supports wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connections. Physical buttons remain for controlling the air conditioning and audio systems.

The car is available in both 7-seater and 6-seater configurations. The 6-seater version features two independent seats for the second row. Inside the car, users can find approximately 12 cup holders, 6 charging ports, and a 120V power outlet for convenient charging of electronic devices.

The 2024 Lexus GX is set to go on sale in early 2024, with manufacturing taking place at the Tahara plant in Japan. The price for the new-generation GX has yet to be announced, while the current version starts at $59,775 in the US.
