The Classic Honda 67 Motorcycle
Despite being over 50 years old, the Honda 67 still holds a special place in the hearts of vintage motorcycle enthusiasts. In Vietnam, it is known as the “Honda 67,” which refers to the original manual motorcycle that was launched in 1967. The iconic model, known as the “Benly 50,” quickly became popular among Vietnamese consumers.
The Honda 67 was the first motorcycle to feature a manual transmission system with 4 and 5 gear ratios, powered by a modest 50cc engine. It also introduced turn signals, a significant development at the time.
With its compact design, lightweight body, and top speed of 90 km/h, the Honda 67 continues to exude its original charm and timeless appeal. Today, enthusiasts are willing to invest a significant amount to own this legendary motorcycle.
The Iconic Honda Super Cub
Introduced to the Vietnamese market in the 1980s, the Honda Super Cub held a value equivalent to gold. Owning one was considered a luxury for many Vietnamese families.
This model featured a 3-speed gearbox, later upgraded to a 4-speed gearbox for smooth performance and better load-carrying capacity. Its exceptional fuel efficiency allowed it to travel 146km with just 1 liter of gasoline.
The Timeless Honda Dream Thai
The Honda Dream II, imported from Thailand, made its debut in Vietnam in the early 1990s. Its value even surpassed that of the Super Cub.
During that time, Dream Thai motorcycles were cherished possessions and reserved for special occasions.
In 1997, the popularity of the Dream Thai declined when Honda began investing in Vietnam. Assembling the Dream II motorcycles on the local production line marked the company’s initial step.
In December 1997, Honda Vietnam introduced the first Super Dream model at a more affordable price compared to the Dream Thai, making it accessible to a wider audience. However, due to the desirability of imported motorcycles, Dream Thai motorcycles maintained their appeal until 2000.
