ARRC 2022 Round 1: Vietnam Shakes Up Asia

Vietnamese riders delivered an outstanding performance at the opening round of the ARRC 2022 season, held at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand. Their race was nothing short of impressive and surprising.

After a break of 2 years, Honda Racing Vietnam returned to the top playground of the continent with 3 riders representing Vietnam. Honda Racing Vietnam is expected to continue the progress they have made since the 2019 season. In the past 2 years, despite not competing, the riders and the team still organized training sessions and developed technical and tactical plans. This season, Honda Racing Vietnam has had the best pre-season preparation since their participation in ARRC 2016.

During the test runs before the opener at the Chang racetrack, the 3 riders from Vietnam also had very positive performances, along with all 3 racing bikes operating smoothly and competitively.

During the test runs, the 3 riders from Vietnam showed promising performances. Moving on to the qualifying day, in the UB150 category, rider Duc Thanh secured the 14th starting position, while rider Anh Tuan started in 17th position for both race days. In the AP250 category, rider Cao Viet Nam started in 15th position.

Race 1: Crazy and Regrettable

During the first race day, both riders Duc Thanh and Anh Tuan collaborated well and improved their positions. By the sixth lap, Duc Thanh reached 11th position and Anh Tuan secured 12th position. In the 7th lap, Duc Thanh made an impressive move and reached the top 5, competing for a podium position. However, an unexpected collision prevented Duc Thanh from achieving a podium finish. Anh Tuan crossed the finish line in 8th position, while Duc Thanh finished in 10th position. Despite the regret, this was considered a great success for the first race day.

In the AP250 category, rider Cao Viet Nam had an inspiring race day. He made several overtaking maneuvers but couldn’t find his best racing feeling. Cao Viet Nam finished in 8th position, showing his competitive ability and potential.

Race 2: The Madman Awakens

In the second race day of the UB150 category, Cao Viet Nam overtook 4 riders right after the first turn and climbed to 11th position. He continuously gained positions and finished in 8th position. In the AP250 category, he finished in 8th position again. Cao Viet Nam’s performances showed his competitive ability and potential, and he has the potential to reach the podium in the AP250 category this year.

With these performances, Duc Thanh secured 7 points, Anh Tuan secured 11 points, and Cao Viet Nam earned his first 15 points. Honda Racing Vietnam had an emotional opener for ARRC 2022 and showed that they can compete with the top Asian competitors.
