The SUGO race track is famously known as a “roller coaster” with 14 challenging corners and constant uphill and downhill slopes. This presents a formidable challenge for the Honda Racing Vietnam team’s three riders. The results of Race 3 only reinforce this fact.

Despite the difficulty of SUGO, the Honda Racing Vietnam team managed to earn 10 points and gather valuable experience in these demanding conditions. These learnings will prove to be invaluable as they navigate the remaining two stages of the ARRC 2022 season and future seasons as well.

Striving for points on unfamiliar grounds

Prior to racing at SUGO, the riders and the Honda Racing Vietnam team only had access to information provided by the organizers to familiarize themselves with the race track. The entire team had a mere three days to adapt to the track’s surroundings. Even the riders, Cao Viet Nam, Nguyen Anh Tuan, and Nguyen Duc Thanh, relied on observation and imagination to plan their race strategies.

Rider Cao Viet Nam secures an additional 8 points at Race 3 of ARRC 2022.

“I completed two laps around the track to survey the roads and corners, allowing the team to calculate the optimal racing style,” shared rider Cao Viet Nam.

SUGO presents a significant challenge for rider #65.

“SUGO proves to be a substantial challenge. The track has a beautiful surface, but due to its hilly terrain, there are numerous sharp corners, continuous slopes, making it arduous to anticipate the next turn. Therefore, meticulous calculation and selecting the right racing style become paramount for achieving favorable results,” shared rider Cao Viet Nam.

“Corners 9 and 10 pose the greatest challenges, not only because of the slopes but also due to the two consecutive high-speed left turns,” added rider #65.

Endurance and perseverance allowed Cao Viet Nam to secure an 11th-place finish in Race 1.

Rider Cao Viet Nam’s resilience during Race 1, amidst the rain and slippery road conditions, proved to be a standout moment. His indomitable effort secured an 11th-place finish and an additional 5 points in the AP250 standings for Honda Racing Vietnam.

In the UB150 category, rider Nguyen Anh Tuan earned 2 points after finishing in 14th place in Race 2.

Rider Nguyen Anh Tuan also earned 2 points with a 14th place finish in Race 2.

“After competing in this challenging race, I have garnered valuable experience and am confident in delivering better results in the final stages of the season,” said rider Nguyen Anh Tuan.

With the knowledge gained from Race 3, Anh Tuan remains optimistic about achieving improved outcomes in the two remaining stages of the season.

After the first three stages of the ARRC 2022 season, Cao Viet Nam holds 34 points in the AP250 category, placing 11th among the 21 riders.

Nguyen Duc Thanh has amassed 11 points in the first three stages of the ARRC 2022 season.

On the other hand, Nguyen Anh Tuan has earned 18 points, while Nguyen Duc Thanh maintains his position at 11 points.

The fourth stage of the ARRC 2022 season is set to take place at the Sepang race track in Malaysia in October.
