Ferrari Purosangue is not referred to as an SUV by the Italian automaker. Instead, it is described as a 4-door, 4-seater model with a higher floor. It is considered one of the world’s finest, most expensive, and unique high-performance luxury models available today.
The latest addition to the Vietnamese market is the Ferrari Purosangue, a high-performance luxury model. Let’s find out if this “Italian stallion” can maintain the typical Ferrari characteristics or if it’s simply a money-making SUV following the trend.
“The saying goes that everyone has to make an SUV” – this statement doesn’t seem to hold true until Ferrari, the renowned Italian luxury brand known for its high-performance supercars, decided to release an SUV model under market pressure.
Ferrari, however, doesn’t label the Purosangue as an SUV. Instead, they classify it as a 4-door, 4-seater car with a raised floor.
To date, the Ferrari Purosangue stands as the only four-seater car in the Ferrari lineup. The rear doors open in a reverse clamshell style, similar to Rolls-Royce’s ultra-luxurious models.
All four seats in the car are bucket seats, designed to snugly hold occupants, unlike the comfortable reclining seats found in regular cars. Additionally, both rows of seats have separate control panels.
Following the usual Ferrari model pattern, the driver’s compartment of the Purosangue is centered around the driver’s seat. The sporty D-cut steering wheel is equipped with shift paddles and a series of buttons. Behind the steering wheel is a minimalist display screen featuring a large and clear rev counter, a characteristic of racing cars.
Beside the driver, the front passenger also has a separate entertainment screen, symmetrically designed with the driver’s screen. One notable change in the car is the removal of the central entertainment screen from the dashboard. The central armrest is also integrated with a series of buttons for operating modes.
As expected from Ferrari, the interior materials and finishing quality are of high-class and sporty nature. Customers can also opt for additional options, such as a super light carbon roof instead of a panoramic glass roof.
Both the driver’s and passenger’s screens are 10.2 inches in size. The car’s entertainment system is fully integrated with smart connections like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but it doesn’t display navigation on the ODO screen.
When it comes to Ferrari cars, one cannot overlook the power of the engine. The thunderous sound of the naturally aspirated 6.5L V12 engine under the hood is truly unmatched!
This engine churns out up to 715 horsepower and a maximum torque of 716 Nm. Combined with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a 4-wheel drive system, it propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The car can also reach an electronically limited top speed of over 310 km/h.
In return, this powerhouse “drinks gasoline like water” with a fuel consumption rate of around 19.6 L/100 km in urban areas and 14.7 L/100 km on the highway. This figure is similar to its rival, the Lamborghini Urus (19.6 L/100 km – urban road and 13.8 L/100 km – highway).
If the V12 engine breathes life into the Ferrari Purosangue, then the active suspension system is its soul, ensuring a Ferrari-like driving experience: powerful, agile, and incredibly nimble.
After testing on the road, the Purosangue effortlessly dispels doubts about being a “Ferrari-branded car without the soul of a purebred horse.” Each car is equipped with an adaptive suspension system with four electric motors. These motors analyze factors such as operating speed, body tilt, and steering force to individually adjust each shock absorber, guaranteeing exceptional balance while cornering.
One remarkable feature is the car’s ability to automatically lower its height by over 1 cm in poor operating conditions, thereby reducing the center of gravity. Consequently, Ferrari doesn’t need to install any stabilizer bars in the Purosangue, while still ensuring the renowned driving feel.
In addition to its impressive power and performance, Ferrari has also equipped the Purosangue with a range of advanced driving assistance technologies to ensure safety and accident prevention. Notable features include emergency automatic braking, intelligent automatic headlights, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
Similar to Porsche and Lamborghini, launching an excellent SUV doesn’t tarnish the brand’s reputation. On the contrary, it strengthens the brand’s position and contributes to its overall success. The Cayenne, Urus, Bentayga, and Cullinan have all proven this, and the Purosangue will surely follow suit.
The Ferrari Purosangue not only deserves a spot among the world’s highest-performance SUV models like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Lamborghini Urus, but it is also worthy of being compared to top luxury SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan.
Of course, to truly savor the ultimate driving pleasure while being treated like a super deluxe king or queen in a luxury car, customers must be willing to spend a significant amount of money.
This is without even considering the additional value-enhancing equipment available for purchase, such as front seat massage and sunshades for the panoramic sunroof. Each detail will take its toll on the car owner’s wallet.
