Recently, news of Truong My Lan, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Van Thinh Phat Group, being involved in acts of control, manipulation, and misappropriation of over 304,000 billion dong has caused a significant public uproar.
According to the police investigation, Truong My Lan manipulated the leaders of SCB Bank and key individuals within the Van Thinh Phat Group, making them “executors” in committing embezzlement offenses of a particularly large scale. These acts have severely impacted the banking industry’s operations and the state’s credibility in economic management.
Currently, the police (C03) have temporarily seized and secured assets related to Truong My Lan. These assets include 1,266 original land use certificates, 1,784 photocopies of land use certificates, a list of 269 rented houses and lands, 21 notarized contracts, and 147 compensation agreements for land plots in the Phuoc Kien project, Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, there are 22 attached assets that belong to Truong My Lan, including vehicles (1 yacht, 2 ships, and 19 cars), savings books, electronic devices, and other items.
The investigating agency has also attached 1,237 real estate properties owned by related companies and over 857 million shares of SCB held by Truong My Lan and individuals nominated by her.
Prior to these events, Truong My Lan had been seen multiple times alongside two Rolls-Royce luxury cars with the same license plate number 88. Many people are curious if these seized assets include the two luxury cars.
According to netizens, the number 88 can be translated as “tam tai,” which means “trip to death.” When placed horizontally, the number 8 also symbolizes infinity.
