The long-wheelbase version of the Mercedes E-Class luxury sedan can be considered a more affordable alternative to the flagship S-Class sedan, offering additional space, technology, and comfort for rear passengers.
The E-Class L stands out from regular versions with its longer rear doors, thicker C-pillars and rear glass, and a special badge on the D-pillar, giving it a more Maybach-like appearance. The rest of the design cues are inherited from the regular E-Class, including the iconic classic star on the grille, LED taillights, and welcome lights.
With the AMG Line package, the car features unique wheel designs, a sportier bumper, and an illuminated grille.
The Chinese version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class L has a length of 5,092 mm, which is 143 mm longer than the regular E-Class, and a wheelbase of 3,094 mm.
Inside, the dashboard design is carried over from the regular E-Class, featuring the Hyperscreen display with three large screens, each customized for specific functions and graphics. Rear passengers enjoy ample legroom, adjustable backrests, and electrically adjustable footrests.
Additional amenities include neck heating function on the rear headrests, dual wireless phone charging, and a premium Burmester sound system. Moreover, there is a dedicated button to electronically fold the front passenger seat, allowing rear-seat passengers to stretch their legs comfortably. However, this model does not offer a separate screen for rear passengers.
In China, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class L will be available with a 4-cylinder engine in two configurations – the E270L with 201 horsepower and the more powerful E300L with 255 horsepower. The E-Class L also features an air suspension system and rear-wheel steering.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class L is expected to go on sale in China in the coming months, with pricing yet to be announced.
