The Morgan brand still resonates with car enthusiasts in Vietnam through the Aero SuperSports model. While this model has a modern twist on a classic design, the Plus 4 embodies pure tradition. A rare Morgan Plus 4 is showcased in a showroom specializing in supercars and luxury vehicles in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Morgan Plus 4 appears petite next to the Rolls-Royce Wraith within the showroom. Its overall dimensions measure 4,010 x 1,720 x 1,220 mm in length, width, and height, respectively. These dimensions are akin to regular B-segment cars. Weighing only 927 kg, the car is relatively lightweight. Its chassis features Autophoretic-coated steel construction.
In comparison to the Rolls-Royce Wraith, the Morgan Plus 4 exudes a much smaller presence.
A mere glimpse at the Plus 4 would easily lead one to believe they are faced with a classic car dating back several decades. However, Morgan has preserved the same design since the 1950s, choosing to solely update its technology. Production of the Plus 4 remains centered in Worcestershire, United Kingdom.
A convertible car typically necessitates elongation at the front. Its grille imitates the characteristic arched shape favored by century-old vehicles. The round, large design of the halogen headlamps, turn signals, and rear lights protrude outward.
Additional details such as the split-opening bonnet, pointed front section, and rear-mounted spare tire contribute to a vintage sports car aesthetic. The inclusion of numerous polished steel components creates a sense of luxury, underscored by classic spoke rims.
Few would presume that a car boasting such a vintage design is still in production.
In contrast to its white exterior, the interior of the Morgan Plus 4 showcases a captivating “bordeaux” red color scheme. Almost the entire cabin is adorned in leather, accentuated by various wooden details including the steering wheel and front control panel. The speedometer and tachometer reside at the center, while the fuel and temperature gauges are positioned behind the steering wheel.
Entertainment features are absent from the Morgan Plus 4. Devoid of speakers, a radio, or CD player, the car solely caters to those passionate about embracing the world outside as they drive.
The interior strikes a delicate balance between luxury and simplicity, with no extra entertainment features.
The car boasts a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine produced by Ford. This engine generates 154 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 201 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission from Mazda. According to the manufacturer’s claims, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 189 km/h.
Undoubtedly, the Morgan Plus 4 is not designed to deliver a high-speed driving experience. It lacks ABS, electronic stability control, and airbags. This car is better suited to Vietnamese billionaires seeking to expand their car collections or enjoy the occasional spin around town.
In the UK, the starting price for a new Morgan Plus 4 is approximately $42,000 (950 million VND). Once imported to Vietnam, the car will incur transportation fees, a 70% import tax, a 40% special consumption tax, and registration fees…
