During the launch event held in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Repsol Honda Team unveiled their 2020 RC213V race bikes with colors reminiscent of previous versions. The Honda RC213V 2020 still retains the iconic combination of red, orange, and white colors that have been a trademark of recent seasons. However, it is yet unknown whether there have been any changes in the technical specifications of this racing model.
In addition, the Repsol Honda Team also announced their partnership with rookie Alex Marquez during the event. The 2019 Moto2 champion will join forces with Marc Marquez under the Repsol Honda team’s colors to defend their MotoGP championship in 2020. Alex Marquez has been selected to replace the retiring 3-time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo. With his exceptional skills, this 24-year-old racer is expected to be a valuable addition to the Repsol Honda Team in the upcoming season.
For this year, Marc Marquez has decided to stick with the Honda RC213V and will continue to sport the number 93, while his younger brother, Alex Marquez, has chosen the number 73.
“I am tremendously thrilled and honored to be part of the Repsol Honda Team,” expressed Alex Marquez.
Meanwhile, following his 6th championship win, Marc Marquez will lead the Repsol Honda Team in the 2020 MotoGP season. In the 2019 MotoGP season, Marc Marquez’s remarkable performance played a pivotal role in helping the Repsol Honda Team secure the Triple Crown for the third consecutive time. Honda claimed the rider champion, team champion, and manufacturer champion titles, cementing their dominance in the sport.
Speaking at the launch event, Marc Marquez shared, “I am delighted to be back in Indonesia. The atmosphere here is fantastic and it sets the perfect tone for the beginning of our new season. With a strong focus and great teamwork within the Repsol Honda Team, I believe we can achieve outstanding results. The collaboration between the HRC, Repsol technical team, and ourselves has already produced incredible accomplishments, which serve as a great inspiration. I am eagerly looking forward to starting the 2020 season with the RC213V.”
However, experts anticipate that the changes made by rival racing teams ahead of the 2020 MotoGP season will present numerous challenges for the Repsol Honda Team.
