KIA has recently announced the pricing and battery details for their EV5 electric SUV. The starting price for the EV5 in South Korea will be 50 million won (approximately $38,000). The long-range version will be priced at 57 million won (around $43,800).

The EV5 will come with a 82 kWh battery, which is larger than the 77.4 kWh battery found in the EV6. This larger battery allows the EV5 to have a range of over 600 km.

Unlike other HMG electric vehicles that use an 800V system for charging, the EV5 will use a 400V system. This decision was made to reduce costs, even though it means the EV5 won’t be able to utilize super-fast chargers with a power of up to 350 kW.

Initially, Kia had stated that the EV5 would only be available in the Chinese market, with the possibility of expanding to other countries in the future. However, the CEO of Kia, Song Ho-seong, recently announced that the EV5 will be sold in South Korea and international markets. He also emphasized the efforts being made to change the perception that the EV5 is exclusively for China.

The Kia EV5 concept was unveiled in China in March 2023. It features the “opposites united” design philosophy, creating a unique and futuristic appearance. The car has a boxy design with 21-inch rims and a distinct “Digital Tiger Face” at the front, paying homage to Kia’s iconic tiger-nose grille. The sculpted lines on the sides give the car a sporty and dynamic look, while the slim LED taillights stand out at the rear.

Inside, the EV5 has a concept-like interior with “suicidal” Rolls-Royce-style doors for easy access. It offers four individual seats that can swivel outwards, similar to the production version of the EV9. The car also features a large panoramic sunroof to create a seamless connection between the interior and the outside. The calming color scheme and environmentally-friendly materials further enhance the interior.

In conclusion, the KIA EV5 is set to make a mark in the electric SUV market with its competitive pricing, impressive battery capacity, and unique design features.
