The KYMCO AK 550 was globally introduced in 2017 and then in Vietnam in early May 2018. Positioned as a Super Touring motorcycle by KYMCO, it boasts a 500cc engine, 53.3 horsepower, a CVT gearbox, and is integrated with the intelligent Noodoe system.
Recently, KYMCO has released a new Premium version of KYMCO AK 550 to compete with its Japanese rival, Yamaha TMAX.
In this new version, the KYMCO AK 550 still utilizes a 2-cylinder, 550cc engine with a 270-degree crankshaft. However, it is now equipped with electronic throttle technology, enabling precise engine control and smoother acceleration. It also offers customizable riding modes, giving users the option to choose between two separate power settings.
The KYMCO AK 550 Premium 2023 incorporates additional features such as traction control and cruise control systems, providing a smooth and safe riding experience for long journeys.
With a more muscular front face and angular LED headlights, the new KYMCO AK 550 boasts a powerful body design that sets it apart from the sporty appearance of the previous AK 550.
Weighing in at 238 kg, the KYMCO AK 550 is slightly heavier than the Yamaha TMAX model (216 kg). However, KYMCO ensures that the weight is well balanced, making the scooter easily accessible and controllable.
The KYMCO AK 550 Premium 2023 is now available for pre-order through dealerships in Europe and the United Kingdom. It is expected to be released in other markets worldwide soon. The starting price for this maxi-scooter is 10,999 Euros (approximately 285 million VND). This price is also more affordable compared to the Yamaha TMAX, which is currently sold at a price of 15,613 Euros (around 404 million VND) for the Tech Max version.
In the Vietnamese market, the previous version of the KYMCO AK 550 is still available for purchase at 375 million VND, offering a more affordable alternative to the Yamaha TMAX, which is priced at 409 million VND.
