Lexus NX350 vehicles are being recalled due to a detected issue with the electronic parking brake actuator.

Lexus Vietnam has issued a recall notice for Lexus NX350 vehicles that were produced between November 29, 2021, and June 29, 2022. These vehicles are officially imported and distributed by TMV. The software update to address this issue is expected to be available at all Lexus dealerships nationwide starting from October 17, 2022. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has provided information that there are a total of 24 affected Lexus vehicles in Vietnam.

The brake control unit, responsible for controlling the parking brake actuator, may falsely detect an overcurrent of the electronic parking brake actuator and switch to backup mode. This issue can result in the malfunction warning light illuminating and the message “Parking Brake Malfunction, Visit Your Dealer” appearing on the multi-information display. Furthermore, the electronic parking brake may not transition between the engaged and disengaged states.

In a situation where the electronic parking brake fails to engage, the driver may ignore the warning light and message on the multi-information display. This can lead to the vehicle staying on a slope without being in the P position, thus increasing the risk of a collision.

Lexus Vietnam aims to improve the brake control function by applying a new software version through the recall program. Dealerships will check the brake control software version and provide free software updates for vehicles that have an outdated software version. The expected time for the software update is approximately 0.9 hours per vehicle.

Owners of affected vehicles will receive invitations or phone notifications from Lexus dealerships regarding the recall program. Additionally, customers can visit the website www.lexus.com.vn or contact Lexus dealerships nationwide or the hotline of Lexus Vietnam for more information.

Lexus Vietnam also assists owners of non-genuine imported Lexus vehicles in contacting TMC to obtain recall information. Upon confirmation and agreement from TMC, authorized Lexus dealerships will perform free inspections and software updates for customers.

Similar recalls have been announced in the United States, affecting over 19,000 Lexus NX250 and NX350 vehicles, as well as over 64,000 Toyota Tundra vehicles.

The price range of the Lexus NX350 in the Vietnamese market is currently quoted by dealerships between 2.6 billion VND and 3.5 billion VND.
