Due to the increased input costs, Thaco has slightly raised the prices of the Mazda CX-5 by 5 million VND across four versions. Nevertheless, it remains the most attractive C-segment SUV in the Vietnamese market.

Thaco recently announced a price adjustment for the popular Mazda CX-5 SUV. The 2.0 Luxury, 2.0 Premium, 2.0L Premium Sport, and 2.0L Premium Exclusive versions have all seen a 5 million VND increase in their prices. However, the prices for the remaining versions, including the standard 2.0 Deluxe, remain unchanged. As a result, the CX-5 still stands as one of the most affordable SUVs in the C-segment, with prices starting at 749 million VND.

While Thaco did not reveal the exact reason for the price increase, sales staff at the dealership explained that it was due to the higher cost of components.

In July 2023, Thaco introduced an upgraded version of the Mazda CX-5 in Vietnam. The new version features some minor changes in appearance and additional equipment. Surprisingly, the price of this new version is 90 million VND lower than the previous one.

The attractive pricing has sparked a frenzy for the Mazda CX-5 in the Vietnamese market. According to the sales data from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), the Mazda CX-5 has been the best-selling model in the entire market for the past two months (August, September, and October), with monthly sales exceeding 2,000 units.

In the year-to-date list of best-selling cars, the Mazda CX-5 has claimed the second position with a total of 13,031 units sold, trailing only the Mitsubishi Xpander (which has sold over 15,000 units).

The price adjustment of the Mazda CX-5 has incited a price war, with other manufacturers also adjusting their list prices to compete. For instance, the Hyundai Tucson has seen a reduction of nearly 200 million VND.
