Recently, McLaren has officially unveiled the exclusive McLaren Elva edition in Vietnam.
Authorized by Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh – one of the few collectors of the McLaren Ultimate collection in Vietnam – this unique McLaren Elva edition features the artwork of the contemporary French artist Hom Nguyen.
McLaren Elva is the brand’s first open-top production car. This two-seater car, without a windscreen, is also the lightest commercial car ever produced by McLaren Automotive, thanks to its carbon fiber chassis. The car is equipped with McLaren’s revolutionary Active Air Management System (AAMS), which reduces wind resistance and optimizes speed by controlling the airflow, while still maintaining connectivity and functionality with other car features.
With every component finely tuned, the Elva delivers an exceptional driving experience on both long journeys and the racetrack. It boasts a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces a remarkable 815PS of power. Limited to just 149 cars worldwide, each of them handmade to order, the Elva is truly one of the most exclusive McLarens ever created.
The exterior design of the car seamlessly blends with the interior, unobstructed by the number of windows and offering limitless customization options for discerning customers. The Elva serves as a perfect blank canvas to reflect the personality and passion of each owner, especially when partnered with the creative input of a contemporary artist.
Hom Nguyen, born and raised in Paris, draws inspiration for his work from the beauty of portraiture, combining abstract and figurative elements. Using a rich palette of colors, his artwork captures the depth of human emotions and complexities. Renowned for his distinctive bold strokes and vibrant colors, Hom Nguyen’s works have been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, showcasing his talent not only in France but also across the globe.
This collaboration marks the first time that Hom Nguyen’s artwork has been showcased on carbon material. Working closely with McLaren’s Special Operations (MSO) design department, he spent 72 hours carefully selecting and applying various colors to highlight the fusion of performance, innovation, and craftsmanship embodied by the Elva.
Inspired by the Greek mythology of Icarus, Hom Nguyen chose to feature his artwork “Icarus” on the McLaren Elva. Given complete creative freedom, the artist selected this piece as an expression of his humility and gratitude towards Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh, as well as his own passion for cars.
As an ardent art lover and firm believer in its transformative power, Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh decided to collaborate with Hom Nguyen to create a unique Elva that embodies the desire to inspire and promote artistic expression. This collaboration is exemplified through the McLaren Elva special edition, which encapsulates the core beliefs, life influences, and special connection between Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh and contemporary artist Hom Nguyen.
To debut this masterpiece, the McLaren TP. Ho Chi Minh unveiled the Elva special edition on October 13, 2023, with the esteemed presence of Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh and artist Hom Nguyen. The car not only captivates with its stunning design but also symbolizes the close bond between the McLaren brand and its valued customers, as well as its expanding presence in Vietnam.
