The second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC has been officially unveiled, featuring the high-performance duo of the GLC 43 4MATIC and GLC 63 SE Performance. In this new generation, both models have transitioned from V6 and V8 engines to inline-4 engines. The exciting news is that despite the downsizing, both versions offer more power than their predecessors, thanks to advanced technologies from F1 racing cars.

If you’re familiar with the latest sedan and wagon models from Mercedes-AMG C-Class, you’ll notice that these new drivetrain systems are similar. The GLC and C-Class share the same platform, with slight differences in height and ground clearance.

The GLC 43 2024 is equipped with a 2.0L inline-4 engine with mild-hybrid technology, replacing the previous V6 turbocharged engine. The previous V6 engine delivered a maximum power of 385 horsepower, while the new GLC 43 model boasts an impressive power output of up to 416 horsepower, along with an additional 13 horsepower thanks to EQ Boost technology.

Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic transmission. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds, slightly faster than its predecessor’s 4.9 seconds, despite a slight decrease in torque to 500 Nm (compared to the previous version’s 520 Nm).

The GLC 63 S E Performance also utilizes the M139L inline-4 engine, but with a larger turbocharger. It delivers a maximum power of 469 horsepower and a peak torque of 545 Nm, which may not match the previous version’s V8 engine output of 503 horsepower and 700 Nm. However, the new AMG GLC 63 is equipped with the P3 hybrid system, which boosts power to an impressive 671 horsepower and a peak torque of 1,020 Nm.

With this incredible power, the GLC 63 S E Performance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor with the V8 engine. Additionally, this version features a small 6.1 kWh battery that enables it to travel up to 12 km using only electric energy.

Both models showcase the characteristic AMG grille with vertical bars, sporty air intakes, and stylish chrome trim details. At the rear, they both feature a diffuser system, although the GLC 63 boasts a more aggressive design. The 63 version also comes with a trapezoidal exhaust, while the 43 version features a round exhaust.

Inside the cabin, both models boast AMG seats upholstered in Artico/Microcut AMG microfiber with special graphics and materials. Users can also opt for leather and Nappa leather options, complete with the AMG logo embossed on the front headrest. Additionally, AMG Performance seats are available as an optional upgrade.

The prices for the high-performance duo, the GLC 43 4MATIC and GLC 63 SE Performance, have yet to be announced.
