Renner Projekts is a prominent car customizer specializing in classic German cars. One of their notable creations is a customized BMW 850i with various modifications.

The renovated BMW 850i was recently put up for sale; however, despite offers reaching up to 227,000 USD (equivalent to 5.3 billion dong), the owner chose not to sell it.

The original BMW 850i was equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V12 engine.

Renner Projekts modified it into a BMW 8-Series, fitting it with a 4.9-liter V8 engine sourced from a 2002 BMW M5. This upgraded engine is capable of producing up to 485 horsepower (as stated by Renner Projekts).

Renner Projekts performed a complete engine rebuild, including installing ARP connecting rod bolts, replacing timing components, and enhancing airflow with upgraded intake and exhaust components.

In addition, the car now features a 6-speed manual transmission powering the rear wheels and a braking system with front E60 M5 brake pads, rotating discs, and calipers, along with rear E39 M5 components.

The interior has been beautifully upgraded with high-quality leather upholstery, a ZHP-style gear lever, dual-zone air conditioning, and an Alcantara roof.

To enhance its uniqueness, a “Projekt 8” badge is placed between the two front seats, further adding value to the car.

However, the car has generated some mixed opinions. Commenters have noticed a discrepancy between the BMW’s odometer reading of approximately 61,200 km and CarFax reports indicating that the car has covered over 128,700 km since the mid-2000s.

It is believed that Renner acquired an 8-Series with an odometer reading of approximately 152,900 km and subsequently replaced the gauge cluster with one from a brand new BMW 840, which had only traveled about 54,700 km. As a result, the total mileage of the car remains uncertain.

Regardless of the reasons behind the car not being sold, Renner’s decision to refuse the aforementioned price is quite surprising.
