According to sales consulting information, Thaco will introduce the Peugeot 408 crossover model either by the end of this year or at the latest by early 2024.
The Peugeot 408 2023, which was globally launched in mid-2022, is developed based on the updated version of the EMP2 platform. It has dimensions of 4,687 – 1,859 – 1,478 mm (length, width, height) and a wheelbase length of 2,787 mm.
The Peugeot 408 2023 features a trendy design with a sloping roof and a unique body with bold cuts and curves. The front of the car stands out with a frameless grille, slim LED matrix headlights, and a daytime running light strip that extends down to the front bumper like distinctive fangs.
The car is adorned with black-painted details to create accents such as front bumper trims, alloy wheels, and window frames. The rear of the Peugeot 408 2023 is equipped with a black protective panel, reminiscent of the design on the Subaru WRX.
The interior of the Peugeot 408 2023 features a 5-seater configuration with a range of top modern amenities.
These include a digital instrument cluster with a 10-inch rear screen, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support, Bluetooth connectivity, TomTom satellite navigation system, software updates via WiFi, and voice control.
In addition, the car is also equipped with a metal-trimmed gear shift button, electrically adjustable panoramic sunroof, Focal 690W sound system with 10 speakers, wireless charging, 4 USB ports, LED ambient lighting system, heated steering wheel, and heated windshield.
Depending on the version, the car can be upholstered in fabric, Alcantara, standard leather, or Nappa leather. On the top-of-the-line version, the car comes with contrast stitching, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2 memory positions, heating, cooling, and a 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. The rear seats can be folded 60:40 to accommodate items up to 1.89 m long.
In the French market, the Peugeot 408 2023 will have 2 engine options: petrol and hybrid.
It is highly likely that when the car arrives in Vietnam, it will be equipped with a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine with 130 horsepower and a maximum torque of 230 Nm, with power transmitted to the front wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Peugeot 408 2023 is equipped with a range of driving assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop/go feature, rear cross-traffic alert, active lane-keeping assist, and far-range blind spot information system.
