The current generation of the Mazda CX-5 was globally released in 2016 and received a facelift in 2021. After being on the market for approximately 7 years, it is time for this C-segment Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) to undergo a comprehensive upgrade, both in terms of its exterior design and engine performance.
Although Mazda has not officially released any information about the new generation CX-5, there have been sketches of the car on Polo To’s Youtube channel, giving users a clearer idea of what to expect.
Based on these sketches, the new Mazda CX-5 will feature a more modern and eye-catching design. The car will still incorporate Mazda’s signature KODO design language, but with refined and sophisticated aerodynamic lines.
The front of the car will stand out with a familiar grille and modern compact LED headlights. The rear of the car will also have sleek and youthful taillights, maintaining consistent aesthetics from the front to the back.
Although Mazda has not revealed any specific details about the new CX-5, it is speculated that the car will not only use the same drivetrains as the current model but also be equipped with a hybrid drivetrain system, similar to the Toyota Corolla Cross.
This speculation is supported by the fact that Toyota holds a 5% stake in Mazda, and the two companies have previously collaborated to develop the Mazda 3 hybrid exclusively for the Japanese market.
In addition, both the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Mazda CX-5 are assembled at the same manufacturing plant in Huntsville, Alabama, USA, as a result of the partnership between Mazda and Toyota.
Along with the design and engine changes, it is highly likely that the new generation Mazda CX-5 will also come with improved safety features to provide the best driver assistance.
