Mr. Ngo Tien Dat, a businessman living in Tan Phu district, Ho Chi Minh City, is the proud owner of the Motobecane 99z. When asked about his experience with this vintage motorcycle, he shared, “One of the most memorable moments with my Motobecane 99z was when I traveled over 700km to the previous owner’s place. I was pleasantly surprised to find it still in such beautiful condition.”

According to Mr. Dat, he bought the motorcycle in almost original condition, with 98% authenticity, including the exclusive repair kit accessories. In 2020, the bike was valued at $6,000 by Saigon enthusiasts.

Motobecane, a French manufacturer of bicycles, motorcycles, and other small vehicles, produced the 99z. Founded in 1923, the company has a rich history and has built many renowned motorcycles.

Motobecane ceased operations in 1981, making the 1978 99z edition one of the last models produced by the French brand. It inherits numerous technological advancements from the company.

The 1978 Motobecane 99z made its way to Vietnam in the 1980s and has since become one of the most sought-after motorcycles. It is powered by a reverse piston engine known for its smooth operation.

The bike boasts a sizable 8.7-liter fuel tank with a reserve valve.

Equipped with a hydraulic mechanism, the bike’s front disc brake measures 240mm and delivers responsive braking performance.

Adding to its distinctive appearance, the bike features a long exhaust pipe, setting it apart from other Motobecane models.

Other notable features include turn signals, brake lights, a 6V headlight, and an electric horn.

The 1978 Motobecane 99z is powered by a 2-stroke engine with 2 cylinders, comprising a main cylinder and an auxiliary cylinder located beneath the engine.

The 99z utilizes the classic kick start method to get it up and running.

Mr. Dat still uses the bike daily, specifically for his morning coffee runs. He proudly displays the 99z in his living room, providing meticulous care and maintenance. Due to its sentimental value, Mr. Dat has no intention of selling the bike despite receiving multiple offers from other collectors.
