Affordable price
Not long ago, Vietnamese bikers would have had to spend over 600 million VND to own a Harley-Davidson Forty Eight. However, in 2019, that price has become much more attractive. Thanks to changes in import policies, the price of a Forty Eight has dropped significantly to only 470 million VND.
This is great news for motorcycle enthusiasts, especially those who love Harley-Davidson. With such an attractive price, it is expected that the Harley community in Vietnam will thrive and expand in 2019 and beyond.
What does the Harley-Davidson 48 2019 offer?
Every Harley-Davidson has a unique appearance and style that stands out from the crowd, and the Forty Eight is no exception. As one of the highest-rated models in the Sportster family, it offers a distinct identity among the 5 different models.
The Harley-Davidson 48 features a pure Cruiser design with a low-seat height of about 700 mm, suitable for the Vietnamese physique. The version that I experienced came with a solo saddle for one person, but customers also have the option to install a passenger seat for two.
On top, the Forty Eight has a teardrop-shaped, 7.9-liter fuel tank. With an average fuel consumption of 4.9L/100km as specified by the manufacturer, each refuel can take you over 100km. A larger capacity fuel tank would provide more comfort for long-distance travel.
The weight of an unloaded Harley Davidson is quite heavy at 247kg, which may be seen as a barrier for many Vietnamese bikers with smaller physiques. The front and rear wheels are 16 inches, with double 9-spoke black paint. The front tire is 130/90, while the rear tire is 150/80. The front suspension is telescopic, while the rear features a twin-sided symmetrical spring. The round headlight uses a halogen bulb to emit yellow light. The traditional circular cluster is still present on the Harley-Davidson 48 2019.
What makes the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight particularly attractive is its exposed engine. The 1,202cc air-cooled engine is placed completely uncovered under the fuel tank. The American manufacturer does not disclose much information about the bike’s performance. However, the Forty Eight has a maximum torque of 96 Nm at 3,750 rpm.
With the engine fully exposed, riders can experience all the sounds and heat generated when the engine is running. While the engine sound may create a sense of emotion for the rider, the heat emitted can make one uncomfortable, especially when stopped at a red light or turning off the engine. It’s something that riders must adapt to in their daily lives.
A machine filled with emotions
Like humans, motorcycles are not perfect in every aspect. For me, the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight is a good motorcycle and scores 8.5 out of 10. Its stylish design, strong American character, and versatile and comfortable riding ability make it an ideal partner for any journey. Furthermore, with the new import policy, owning a Harley-Davidson Forty Eight is now much easier.
