Review: Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 – The Western Region’s Daring Biker’s Take on the “Blockbuster” With a Price Starting at 1.36 Billion VND

With 1.36 billion VND, you have the option of purchasing the finest Toyota Camry or three hatchback A-class cars for a pleasant and stress-free drive in erratic weather. Nevertheless, a motorcyclist from Can Tho opted to spend the same amount of money on acquiring the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2, aiming to relish the excitement of taming a superbike on the city streets.

In early April this year, Vietnam’s most renowned supercar enthusiast, Mr. Pham Tran Nhat Minh, also known as Minh “Nhua,” splurged 6 billion VND to acquire the limited edition Ducati Superleggera V4 motorcycle, of which only 500 units were made available. The exorbitant price tag of this motorcycle left many dumbfounded, as with the same amount, one could easily purchase a luxurious Mercedes-Benz S450L Luxury 2022 and bask in the comfort and opulence that the Ducati Superleggera V4 fails to provide.

Fast forward to the present, Vietnam’s motorcycle community is once again abuzz with excitement as another highly-priced Ducati model has made its way into the country and found its proud owner, a well-known figure in the biking world. That model happens to be the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2, boasting cutting-edge technology derived from Moto GP racing and marking its first-ever appearance in Vietnam. It’s worth noting that the launch of the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 took place globally in early March this year.

The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 stands as the latest addition to the Ducati superbike series, boasting high-performance attributes and incorporating many elements from the earlier-released Superleggera V4. This exclusive motorcycle has arrived in Vietnam as a single unit, all thanks to the audacious Minh “Nhua”.

Unsurprisingly, carbon fiber remains the go-to material for both supercar and motorcycle manufacturers, as it offers reduced weight while adding an inimitable touch. The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 follows suit, with its wheels, body parts, and fenders all crafted from this premium material.

The Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 boasts an alluring fishtail design on its sides, with the V4 SP2 emblem elegantly embroidered in white and red colors on the motorcycle’s seat and flanks. While not part of a limited production, all Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 units bear the number “500” on the tail section.

Additionally, the motorcycle is equipped with aerodynamic winglets that enhance road grip. “Winter Test,” a distinct black paint job, covers most parts finished in carbon fiber, along with a glossy fuel tank. Stylish interpretations of the Italian flag’s colors can be found throughout the bike, rendered in red.

Not limited edition, but Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 still has the number 500

In terms of technology, the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 boasts Ohlins NPX 25/30 front suspension and Ohlins TTX36 rear suspension with a steering damper. Developed by Ohlins, the motorcycle’s suspension system incorporates the Smart EC 2.0 control software, which enables adaptive damping for improved stability and control.

To effectively harness the motorcycle’s immense power, the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 features Brembo Stylema R calipers with an MCS 19.21 master cylinder that enables swift adjustment of braking travel length. Furthermore, the bike comes equipped with a GPS module that automatically activates the lap timer feature. It also offers four riding modes: Low, Medium, High, and Full.

Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 is priced equivalent to mid-range cars and three times higher than A-segment hatchback cars or twice the price of the newly launched Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid 2022 in Vietnam

With the aforementioned price, the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 surpasses the more affordable Kawasaki Ninja H2, priced from 1.299 billion VND in Vietnam. Although the Ninja H2 boasts 32 horsepower and a maximum torque of 142 Nm, the Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 is more striking when it comes to the power-to-weight ratio, as it weighs a substantial 65 kg less.
