The all-new 11th generation Honda Civic, recently launched in the Vietnamese market, has undergone extensive changes in design, convenience, equipment, and performance. As a result, this compact sedan has become a much more appealing choice for domestic consumers.
Modern and elegant design
The Honda Civic 2022 represents the all-new 11th generation with a completely refreshed design. Not only has the overall size increased (Length x Width x Height: 4,678 x 1,802 x 1,415 mm; wheelbase: 2.735 mm; ground clearance: 134 mm), but the fastback tail, which is favored by “speed enthusiasts,” has been replaced by a sleeker and more sophisticated sedan shape.
The front of the car features the Solid Wing design language, similar to its older brother, the Honda Accord, or its younger sibling, the Honda City, with a small two-tier grille. The split LED headlamp design adds to the overall elegance and modernity of the front end.
Although it has become more sophisticated compared to the previous 10th generation, the Civic 2022, especially the range-topping RS variant, still features many elements reminiscent of its youthful and sporty image, such as window trim, door handles, mirror caps, shark fin antenna, black-painted tailgate with a small spoiler, and dual exhaust pipes…
The Civic RS comes with 18-inch double-spoke wheels, inspired by the well-known BBS aftermarket brand for sporty accessories. Lower variants of the car come with 16 and 17-inch wheels.
Convenient and spacious interior
With the increased overall size and the elimination of the sporty fastback design, the interior space of the Honda Civic 2022 has become much more spacious. This is particularly noticeable in the increased comfort for rear passengers. Additionally, the trunk space is also more generous, making it suitable for families.
A modern atmosphere envelops the cockpit, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated paddle shifters. Behind the steering wheel is a large display that serves as the instrument cluster. In the center of the dashboard is a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment display that is touch-sensitive and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
In the range-topping variant, the driver is treated to a 2-tone leather-appointed power-adjustable driver seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and ambient lighting. On the outside, the side mirrors have been moved from the A-pillar to the doors, providing better visibility for the driver.
Aiming to be a family vehicle, the Honda Civic 2022 is also equipped with a host of convenient features, including a 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless phone charging, 3 charging ports, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, and smartphone-based vehicle management.
Modern and safe equipment
The Honda Sensing safety package is available on all 3 variants of the Civic 2022, providing peace of mind for customers on every road. In addition to the 4 main features: adaptive cruise control (including low-speed follow), collision mitigating braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-keeping assist, and road departure mitigation, the Honda Sensing suite also brings a new feature to the Civic, which is forward collision warning.
Furthermore, the Civic 2022 is also equipped with other safety features, such as a Lane Watch camera, drowsy driver alert, and rearview camera. However, the car still lacks a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, or even front and rear parking sensors.
Sporty and exciting performance
The Honda Civic 2022 has also undergone changes in terms of driving performance compared to its predecessor. Under the hood is the familiar 1.5L VTEC turbo engine, which has been tuned to deliver a maximum power of 176 horsepower and a torque of 240 Nm. It is paired with a front-wheel-drive system and a CVT automatic transmission.
This power ensures that Honda’s compact sedan offers an exciting driving experience when accelerating, not inferior to the 10th generation before it. The emotionally engaging steering wheel still provides a “addictive” steering feel. Despite the increased overall dimensions, the car still responds sharply and nimbly to the driver’s commands.
According to the manufacturer, the noise levels in Honda cars, in general, have been significantly reduced in the new Civic 2022.
Competitive pricing
The three variants of the Honda Civic 2022 are priced at 730, 770, and 870 million VND respectively for the E, G, and RS range-topping versions. These prices have seen a significant reduction compared to the previous generation Civic, making it more competitive with its rivals in the same segment, such as the Toyota Altis, Mazda3, and even closer to Korean representatives like the Kia K3 and Hyundai Elantra.
The new, modern, and practical design, along with many special features, convenience, safety, and more affordable pricing, demonstrate Honda’s determination to compete with its rivals in the same segment and even with the increasingly popular compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Tucson and Toyota Corolla Cross.
