“Sugo circuit: A roller coaster ride for Vietnamese racing driver”

Just before the beginning of Stage 3 of the 2022 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC), we had a brief conversation with Cao Viet Nam, the racer representing Honda Racing Vietnam. Donning the number 65, he exudes immense excitement and confidence for the upcoming race at the Sugo race track in Japan this weekend.

Accordingly, Cao Viet Nam stated: “The Sugo race track resembles a thrilling roller coaster with high uphill sections and deep downhill sections, as well as twisting and turning sections. The track’s surface is aesthetically pleasing, but due to the heavy car traffic, there are burnt rubber marks on the road. Hopefully, the weather will remain sunny, as the track may become slightly slippery compared to other race tracks in case of rain.”

Furthermore, Cao Viet Nam also shared that the most challenging corner at Sugo is probably corner 9-10. This corner is a high-speed, downhill section right before entering the final corner.

“I believe the final corner also poses a challenging task for riders in terms of technique, given its relatively steep incline of about 10%. However, I always feel very confident and mentally prepared to conquer this stage,” Cao Viet Nam said.

Returning to stage 3 of this year’s ARRC season, the Honda Racing Vietnam team continues to participate with the presence of 3 talented young riders who have achieved remarkable success: Nguyen Duc Thanh, Nguyen Anh Tuan, and Cao Viet Nam, registered to compete in the AP250 and UB150 categories.

Among them, Cao Viet Nam, the sole participant in the AP250 category, is renowned as one of Vietnam’s top riders at present: He became the first Vietnamese representative to win the Thailand Talent Cup (TTC) in 2019 and finished 14th out of 44 in the 2019 ARRC, accumulating a total of 50 points. Cao Viet Nam is highly anticipated by fans and is trusted not to disappoint.
