VinFast has made significant progress in just 5 years since its establishment. With a wide range of car models in all segments, including electric vehicles, the Vietnamese brand has quickly earned recognition in the market.
The journey of VinFast began in 2017, when the brand completed the construction of its factory and nationwide dealer network within just 2 years. It then launched high-quality and reasonably priced models, such as the Lux A, Lux SA, and Fadil.
In a strategic move, VinFast announced the cessation of petrol car production and shifted its focus to electric models. While a few remaining Lux A cars are still being sold through clearance sale programs, VinFast’s electric car lineup is rapidly expanding.
The first electric car model introduced by VinFast is the VinFast VF e34. It made its debut in late 2021 and received an overwhelming response with over 3,600 orders placed on the first day of its launch. Based on the platform of the American GM Bolt model, this B-segment CUV comes with a starting price of 710 million VND. With its spacious interior, flexible operating range of nearly 300km per full charge, and proven durability and reliability over time, the VinFast e34 competes with other popular models like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, and Mazda CX-30.
The VinFast VF8 is another compelling electric model introduced by VinFast. This electric crossover began delivery to customers in 2022 and is currently listed at a starting price of 1.1 billion VND. With its powerful and smooth performance, 10 airbags safety system, advanced ADAS driving assist package, and the ability to travel over 400 km per full charge, the VF8 competes fiercely with other popular models like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-8.
In addition to the VF e34 and VF8, VinFast has signed many bulk car sales contracts, indicating the increasing popularity of its electric car lineup. The Vietnamese brand has even established a technology car company called Taxi xanh GSM, aiming to rent out VinFast electric cars to other taxi companies.
As for larger SUV models, VinFast introduced the VinFast VF9. This big brother SUV model was delivered right after the VF8 in 2023. With modern design, advanced safety features, spacious space for 7 people, and superior convenience, the VF9 competes confidently with other D-segment SUVs like the VinFast Lux SA, Toyota Fortuner, and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The VF9 offers an impressive range of up to 420km per full charge, 402 HP – 620 Nm of power, and a 4-wheel drive system for an acceleration time from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds.
For those looking for a small-sized hatchback, VinFast offers the VinFast VF5. This compact car is a solid choice with its flexible performance, competitive price range of around 500 million VND, and free registration fee policy for electric cars. It provides sufficient conveniences compared to its competitors, making it an attractive option for urban users.
VinFast continues to expand its electric vehicle offerings with the recently introduced VinFast VF3. This super small-size mini car measures only 3.1m long and targets the most basic transportation needs of the people. Reservations for the VF3 will begin in the third quarter of this year, with deliveries planned for 2024. The VF3’s eye-catching square design and promised features are expected to make it very attractive and popularize cars among the people in Vietnam. Though small in size, the VF3 still accommodates up to 5 seats, mainly targeting couples or single people.
Looking forward, VinFast plans to further expand its electric vehicle product range, covering A-segment minicars to D+ segment SUVs. In addition to cars, VinFast is also doing business in electric motorcycles, offering a range of models to cater to different market segments.
As the pioneering name in the electric vehicle field in Vietnam, VinFast stands out from other car brands with its complete focus on electric models. With a dense electric charging station system nationwide and a unique battery rental policy, VinFast aims to revolutionize the market and provide cost-effective solutions to consumers. Although there are challenges related to charging infrastructure and transitioning habits from petrol cars to electric cars, VinFast is committed to delivering high-quality and reliable electric vehicles to the market.
