Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) unveiled the Suzuki Jimny 5-door during the Auto Expo 2023 event. This trendy off-road SUV will debut in the Indian market before making its way to other global markets.
The 5-door variant of the Suzuki Jimny is built on a ladder frame chassis and comes equipped with a multi-link suspension system and Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system. The AllGrip Pro system enhances the off-road capabilities of the Suzuki Jimny 5-door.
Designed with the philosophy of ‘Purity of Function’, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door features a square body ratio and distinct design elements like a clamshell hood, vertical slots in the front grille, and round headlights.
The interior showcases a predominantly black color scheme with silver accents that accentuate the brand’s functional elements. The instrument panel and center control cluster are designed to provide the driver with maximum visibility when navigating rough terrains.
As for the features, the car is equipped with the Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system featuring a 9-inch HD screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, Arkamys audio, six airbags, anti-lock braking system, hill start assist, rearview camera, and ABS with EBD.
The Suzuki Jimny 5-door has an overall length of 3,985 mm (including the spare tire), a width of 1,645 mm, and a height of 1,720 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,590 mm.
The luggage compartment offers a capacity of 208 liters (expandable to 332 liters when the rear seats are folded), and the car boasts a ground clearance of 210 mm. It also features an approach angle of 36 degrees and a departure angle of 50 degrees.
Under the hood, the Suzuki Jimny 5-door is powered by a 1.5L mild hybrid petrol engine, delivering a maximum power of 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 134 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The engine comes paired with a standard 5-speed manual transmission, with an optional 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
