Recently, a Japanese car manufacturer unveiled a new design that brings a unique feature to the Toyota Century SUV model – an electric sliding door.
While sliding doors have traditionally been used in vehicles such as vans and minivans to provide convenience and easy access for passengers, they have not been widely adopted in compact cars or SUVs due to the aesthetic issue of the exposed rail when the door is closed.
However, Toyota has found a solution to this problem and applied it to their latest Century SUV model. In collaboration with Aisin, a renowned Japanese automotive component supplier, Toyota has developed a completely new structure for the electric doors. These sliding doors are operated with a lever, enabling users to easily lock, close, and open the doors, while also saving space in tight parking spots. Importantly, this design does not compromise the overall aesthetics of the vehicle.
The Toyota Century SUV, launched in Japan in September, is positioned as Toyota’s most luxurious and versatile sports car, surpassing even the Lexus LX600 in terms of luxury and prestige.
According to the announcement, the Toyota Century SUV carries a price tag of approximately $167,000 (equivalent to over 4 billion VND) in the Japanese market, making it nearly five times more expensive than the standard Land Cruiser, which is priced at $34,000 (about 825 million VND).
