Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the new generation high-performance models of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and 63 S E Performance Coupes after a six-month wait. These luxury GLC Coupe SUVs have undergone significant upgrades, including the introduction of new four-cylinder engines, yet they still deliver impressive power and performance, thanks to advanced Formula 1 technology.
In the latest high-performance versions of the AMG GLC 43 and AMG GLC 63, the use of V6 and V8 engines has been replaced by innovative four-cylinder engines. However, the power output remains exceptional when compared to the previous generation. These engines feature cutting-edge technology derived from Formula 1 racing cars.
The heart of these models is a brand new 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, combined with a mild hybrid system.
Starting with the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe, the engine delivers an impressive total power output of 416 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. This power is efficiently sent to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds and achieving a maximum electronically-limited speed of 250 km/h.
As for the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance Coupe, it features a potent gasoline engine with a maximum output of 469 horsepower. Additionally, it integrates a powerful 201-horsepower electric motor, a high-performance battery, and an AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system. Collectively, these components produce an outstanding total power output of up to 671 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,019 Nm. Consequently, this vehicle can achieve an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive 3.5 seconds, reaching a maximum electronically-limited speed of 275 km/h.
In addition to the mechanical upgrades, the high-performance versions also receive subtle exterior refinements compared to the standard models.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 and 63 S E Performance Coupes of 2024 boast a more aggressive and sporty appearance characterized by the new Panamericana grille, vertical slats, a larger front air intake, and a prominent rear diffuser. To further differentiate them from the standard versions, the high-performance models feature four diamond-shaped exhaust tips.
Inside the cabin, both high-performance SUVs offer a sporty AMG Performance steering wheel along with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system.
Currently, the German luxury automaker has not disclosed the pricing and availability details for the 2024 AMG GLC.
