VinFast’s charging station network not only covers all 63 provinces but also extends to 106 national highways, significantly expanding its coverage in major cities and central areas. With a station density of just 3.5 km apart in 80 out of 85 cities nationwide. The network has successfully solved the “dual challenge” of charging stations in Vietnam.

VinFast’s Solution to the Charging Station Challenge in Vietnam

Recognizing the importance of building a charging station network for electric vehicles, VinFast has invested hundreds of millions of USD in infrastructure development. In a short period of time since the release of its first electric vehicle model, the VF e34, VinFast’s charging stations have been established in all 63 provinces.

This achievement was demonstrated when two VinFast VF e34 vehicles completed a cross-country journey, traveling over 1,970 km from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. During the 48-hour trip, the vehicles stopped 11 times to recharge and rest. VinFast has successfully taken the first step in expanding the charging station network for electric vehicles.

VinFast’s public charging station system is available in 80 out of 85 cities, with a minimum distance of 3.5km between stations.

However, the challenges don’t end there. The demand for charging stations varies in different locations, with major cities and central areas requiring a higher number of stations due to greater electric vehicle ownership and usage rates.

To address this, after expanding the charging network nationwide, VinFast aims to increase the station density in urban areas. Currently, VinFast’s public charging stations are present in 80 out of 85 cities, with a maximum distance of 3.5 km between stations. This allows customers to quickly recharge their vehicles during short trips.

VinFast’s charging station system not only facilitates long-distance travel on national highways and expressways but also provides convenient charging options in cities. Customers can easily find charging stations in public parking lots, shopping centers, residential buildings, and office buildings.

Combined with home chargers, VinFast electric vehicle owners can confidently travel across the country. This gives VinFast a significant advantage over competitors planning to introduce electric vehicle models in Vietnam without solving the “dual challenge” of charging stations.

VinFast’s Charging Station Network Sets Vietnam at the Forefront of Electric Vehicle Infrastructure

VinFast’s investment in the charging station system demonstrates its long-term vision for electric vehicle development in the Vietnamese market. This also reflects the global perspective of the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, as the construction of electric vehicle charging infrastructure is still in its early stages worldwide.

The United States, considered a leader in electric vehicle development, also faces challenges in meeting the demand for charging stations. Major cities, central areas, and high-density residential buildings experience a shortage of charging stations.

The United States has a strong electric vehicle market but faces a shortage of charging stations.

To encourage the installation of charging stations in residential buildings, more than 10 states in the US have passed legislation to allow residents to install electric vehicle chargers. The UK and Norway have also implemented regulations to ensure sufficient charging infrastructure in parking lots and new buildings.

In Singapore, public charging stations play a crucial role in charging electric vehicles.

In Singapore, where a large population lives in high-rise condominiums, the government is actively working towards achieving 40,000 public charging ports by 2030. The introduction of electric charging laws requires new buildings to install chargers for a minimum of 1% of total parking spaces. The electricity infrastructure must also support the necessary capacity.
