In 2006, the rich in Vietnam were abuzz when the first Maybach arrived in the country. Since then, several imported versions, including the 57S, 62S, and the limited edition 62S Zeppelin with only 100 units worldwide, have made their way into Vietnam.

Recently, Son Tùng Auto, a reputable luxury car dealer in Hanoi, listed a 2008 Maybach 62S for sale. Though the selling price and mileage remain undisclosed, it’s been discovered that this luxury car has traveled over 200,000 km. The current asking price is said to be no less than 10 billion VND, making it pricier than a 2023 Mercedes-Maybach S 450, which is priced at 8.199 billion VND.

Despite being 15 years old with approximately 20 units in Vietnam, the Maybach 62S is still highly valued for its luxury, even though it may not offer the same features and conveniences as the current Maybach models.

In 2008, the car boasted an attention-grabbing front-end with a chrome-plated grille featuring multiple vertical slats. The front bumper boasted three air vents, with a wind-splitter on the middle vent to reduce monotony. The two side air vents incorporated small fog lights.

During that time, the car’s lighting system included advanced Bi-Xenon headlights, showcasing the German brand’s innovation.

The Maybach 62S spans 5,728 x 1,980 x 1,557 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a 3,827 mm wheelbase, which is larger than the 3,395 mm of the Mercedes-Maybach S 680, the highest-end version available from the official Vietnamese distributor.

The car’s rear portion features elongated taillights, a design seen in many modern cars today. The taillights are simple, with four stacked LED strips serving as position lights. The exhaust system consists of a single square-shaped outlet, giving the car a muscular appearance.

The Maybach 62S stands out with its multi-spoke wheels, distinct from other cars in Vietnam. The wheels sport a coppery gold color with a black background. Both the front and rear axles have 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the car boasts a predominantly black color scheme with white contrast stitching. After ten years of use, the details have shown signs of age, including wrinkled leather seats. The dashboard design is moderately luxurious with fewer chrome details, while the air conditioning vents have a classic rectangular shape.

Rather than utilizing high-quality wood materials, the owner of the car selected carbon fiber to cover various interior details, including the door handles, the fixed cabinet between the rear seats, the center control panel, the rear armrest, and the partition area with an entertainment screen.

Above the car’s interior roof, three meticulously crafted clocks with the Maybach logo provide speed, time, and temperature displays from left to right.

The Maybach 62S excels in its rear cabin, designed in a business style featuring two independent seats for the owner and a fixed partition. Although the seats allow multi-directional power adjustment, they lack the massage function found in modern cars. Additionally, the rear cabin has a separate sunroof, making it more modern compared to other luxury cars from its era.

Between the seats, there is a compartment with storage compartments and a DVD player cabinet. Below that, the mobile phone and button system have been removed as they are not suitable for today’s usage. The car owner can communicate with the driver through a separate intercom system, and there is also a wine refrigerator.

The Maybach 62S is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 6.0L V12 engine, generating a maximum power of 604 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,000 Nm. It utilizes a 5-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Thanks to its powerful performance, comparable to some supercars, this almost 2.9-ton sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.
