The images released before the official launch give a sneak peek of the redesigned Kia Sonet compact SUV, which now adopts the brand’s new design language.

The Sonet is a compact SUV closely related to the Hyundai Venue and positioned below the Seltos in the Kia product lineup. Initially introduced in 2020, the model targeted the Indian, Chinese, and emerging markets. However, as trends evolved, some of its original design elements became outdated, necessitating innovation.

The upgraded Kia Sonet is set to be launched later this year. Ahead of that, the South Korean SUV’s appearance has been revealed through images released by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The 2024 Kia Sonet follows the brand’s new design language, similar to its “big brother” Seltos 2023. The car features a new logo with stylized KIA lettering, replacing the oval emblem. The extended headlights integrate LED daytime running lights and new turn signals with a star map-inspired design.

The highlight at the rear is the new taillights with C-shaped graphics, connected by an LED strip that spans across the trunk. Additionally, the car’s front and rear bumpers have been refined.

It remains unclear whether the 2024 Kia Sonet’s engine will undergo upgrades. The current version is offered with three engine options: a 1.2L petrol engine with a maximum power of 83 horsepower and maximum torque of 115 Nm, a turbocharged 1.0L petrol engine with 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5L diesel engine with a maximum power of 116 horsepower and maximum torque of 250 Nm.
