The LF-ZC, which stands for Lexus Future Zero-Emission Catalyst, is developed on a new electric vehicle platform with a modular design that separates the car body into three main parts: front, center, and rear. This innovative design allows the LF-ZC to be structurally independent and facilitates the quick integration of new and improved battery types.
Lexus plans to launch the LF-ZC with a prismatic battery structure that not only increases range but also reduces weight. In fact, Lexus aims to achieve double the driving range compared to conventional battery-electric vehicles.
In terms of dimensions, the LF-ZC is similar in size to the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3, with a length of 4,750 mm, width of 1,880 mm, height of 1,390 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. Lexus has set a target drag coefficient below 0.2 for the LF-ZC, emphasizing its aerodynamic performance.
Regarding its exterior design, the LF-ZC combines elements of a sports sedan with an estate, showcasing Lexus’ “Provocative Simplicity” design language.
While Lexus has not provided detailed technical specifications for the electric drivetrain of the LF-ZC concept, it does feature the brand’s Direct4 all-wheel drive system and steer-by-wire technology, similar to the Lexus RZ.
The interior space of the LF-ZC is both spacious and luxurious, featuring a panoramic roof and a futuristic steering wheel. The interior design shares similarities with the Toyota FT-Se concept, also showcased at the exhibition. At the front seats, there is a large touchscreen with entertainment functions.
Additionally, the LF-ZC is equipped with an advanced voice recognition system called “Butler,” powered by AI technology. This system utilizes machine learning to customize software and works in conjunction with the new Arene operating system to adapt the car’s functions to the driver’s preferences. The cabin of the concept car predominantly makes use of bamboo materials.
Lexus positions the LF-ZC as part of its next-generation BEV lineup, scheduled for launch in 2026. This model promises to deliver unique driving experiences and exclusive services, showcasing Lexus’ expertise in car manufacturing while enriching the lives of customers.
