Honda Vietnam has recently unveiled the second-generation HR-V crossover, following the success of the CR-V. With its modern design, additional features, and the Honda Sensing safety package, the 2022 Honda HR-V is a significant upgrade.
The design of the 2022 Honda HR-V has undergone a transformation, with new lines in the front, body, and rear of the car.
The most noticeable detail on the 2022 HR-V is the chrome-plated diamond-shaped grille. Additionally, the LED headlights have been upgraded with a segmented design, similar to Honda sedans like the Accord or City.
The 2022 HR-V continues to be equipped with modern LED fog lights, alongside its new front bumper design.
In terms of body design, the Honda HR-V 2022 looks very different, blending coupes with a practical crossover, and boasting a fastback tail design with a sporty feel.
The size of the HR-V has increased compared to the previous version, giving it a more modern and sporty look. Its dimensions are LxWxH: 4,385 x 1,790 x 1,590 mm.
The wheels have also been upgraded to 18-inch dual-spoke alloy wheels, similar to the previous CR-V.
The rearview mirrors have been adjusted to minimize blind spots and ensure the best visibility for the driver.
The HR-V 2022 features a sleek fastback tailgate spoiler, combined with a shark fin antenna, adding a youthful and sporty touch to the overall design.
Similar to the front lighting system, the rear brake lights have also been redesigned with a modern and segmented design.
At the bottom, the Honda HR-V 2022 features a dual exhaust pipe design, emphasizing its youthful and elegant aesthetic. The rear bumper design is also slim and similar to the front bumper.
Stepping inside the Honda HR-V, the interior space is designed with horizontal layers, creating a sense of spaciousness, as envisioned by the Japanese designers.
The interior of the new HR-V exudes simplicity, neatness, sophistication, modernity, and practicality, similar to the recently released Honda Civic.
Located at the center of the dashboard is an 8-inch infotainment screen, integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for easy connectivity.
The steering wheel has also been redesigned to create a modern and exciting feel for the driver. With the Honda Sensing package, the steering wheel wings are fully equipped with intelligent function control buttons and entertainment information.
The HR-V 2022 is equipped with sports mode shift paddles behind the steering wheel. It also features a 7-inch multi-information display combined with two modern round screens, offering intuitive display capabilities.
Another valuable upgrade in the Honda HR-V 2022 is the air conditioning system. The control button cluster has been simplified with three round knobs, creating a uniform look seen in other Honda models such as the City, Civic, and Accord.
The HR-V 2022 is equipped with a dual-zone independent air conditioning system and 3 cooling modes for the air vents. The diffusing mode allows airflow to flow along the ceiling or body, without blowing directly into the faces of passengers.
The rear seats feature ventilation vents and two charging ports, providing comfort for passengers. The HR-V’s smart key also comes with a remote start feature, allowing passengers to enjoy a cool space before getting into the car.
The gearshift and electronic parking brake area have been simplified, giving a modern feel to the 2022 Honda HR-V. The car is equipped with 3 different driving modes, each suited for specific operating conditions.
The HR-V 2022 comes with convenient features such as leather seats with red stitching, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic rain-sensing wipers, and an auto-dimming mirror, to name a few.
In the rear seats, the space and visibility for passengers have been increased, thanks to larger windows. This creates a spacious and comfortable atmosphere during journeys.
To enhance flexibility when carrying luggage, the Honda HR-V can fold 60:40 in three modes. This feature allows the seatback to be folded and the seat surface to be raised straight up, making it the first car in its segment to offer this convenient feature.
As part of Honda’s commitment to safety, the HR-V 2022 comes standard with the Honda Sensing package. This package includes six safety features: Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control – Low Speed Follow (ACC – LSF), Auto High-Beam (AHB), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS).
Additionally, the HR-V is equipped with other useful features such as Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control (HSA – HDC), Lane Watch Mode for increased side-viewing convenience, rear seat reminder function, six airbags, ISOFIX child safety seat connection, and more.
The Honda HR-V 2022 is powered by a VTEC 1.5L turbocharged engine, similar to the one found in the Civic model. Compared to the previous 1.8L naturally aspirated engine, it offers increased power with a maximum output of 174 HP and 240 Nm of torque when combined with the CVT transmission and front-wheel drive system.
The HR-V 2022 has been fine-tuned to minimize noise as much as possible. The engine mount bracket has been changed to steel and sound-absorbing materials have been added throughout the car.
Additionally, both the suspension and steering systems have been fine-tuned, enhancing performance and creating an exciting driving experience for Honda HR-V owners.
In the sport version, the HR-V 2022 is equipped with the Honda Connect feature, allowing the car to be connected to a smartphone. Honda Connect enables owners to easily store travel history, manage vehicle information, look up useful information, and set maintenance reminders, all conveniently accessible from anywhere.
In the event of airbag deployment, the call center will immediately contact the driver or relatives to confirm the safety of passengers or notify the family as quickly as possible. HR-V RS owners will receive a free subscription to the Honda Connect package for the first year.
In conclusion, the all-new Honda HR-V 2022 offers valuable changes inside and out, while maintaining the same starting price as its predecessor. The L version starts from 826 million VND, with the RS version priced at 871 million VND. With its enhancements, the HR-V is expected to be a worthy competitor to other crossover models in the segment priced under 1 billion VND, such as the Toyota Corolla Cross, Hyundai Tucson, or Mazda CX-30.
