Recently, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has officially granted an airworthiness certificate to the EH216-S flying taxi model developed by EHang.

This certification confirms that the EH216-S design complies with all safety standards and flight requirements. It is authorized for commercial passenger transportation.

The EH216-S is an unmanned electric aircraft capable of carrying up to 2 passengers and their luggage. It is powered by a 17 kW battery and propelled by 16 electric motors that operate 16 propellers. This allows the aircraft to reach a speed of approximately 96 km/h, with a maximum speed of up to 130 km/h.

Furthermore, the EH216-S utilizes green energy and is equipped with various intelligent systems, including flight control and battery management systems. It also features a high-speed wireless network, ensuring a safe and seamless flying experience. The aircraft operates solely on electricity and can be fully charged within two hours.

In addition to passenger transportation and tourism, the EH216-S can be utilized for cargo transportation and emergency medical services.

Before receiving the airworthiness certificate, the unmanned aircraft underwent more than 40,000 test flights conducted in various locations. Moreover, the EH216-S successfully passed over 500 test items.

The founder and CEO of EHang expressed that the company plans to commence commercial operations for the unmanned eVTOL EH216-S model. However, the specific deployment timeline has not been disclosed yet.
