Toyota has finally upgraded its smallest hatchback for the ASEAN region after almost a decade. The second-generation Wigo, which was recently launched in Indonesia, comes with significant enhancements and a new platform. With these improvements, Toyota aims to attract more customers with this redesigned city car.

While the official dimensions of the all-new Wigo have not yet been released, it is evident that this hatchback appears larger than its predecessor. The car is built on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA), a new global platform that is also used for other models such as the Avanza/Veloz, Raize, and soon, the Vios.

When it comes to its appearance, the front of the car showcases a more aggressive look with slim headlights inspired by the Raize crossover model. The all-new Wigo also stands out with its larger grille. At the rear, a larger window and redesigned taillights add to its appeal.

Inside the cabin, the new Wigo features a familiar dashboard design that can be found in models like the Raize, Avanza, and the new Vios. The car is equipped with a digital air conditioning control system, while premium variants come with a start/stop button and digital gauge cluster.

One of the notable changes in the 2023 Wigo is the transmission option. Instead of the conventional 4-speed automatic transmission, the all-new Wigo now comes with a D-CVT gearbox, which offers improved fuel efficiency and acceleration. Although the power figures for the engine have not been announced yet, the Wigo 2023’s engine is expected to deliver more power and torque.

In addition, Toyota has introduced the GR Sport variant for the all-new Wigo. This variant features a distinct bumper design, unique wheels, and a two-tone paint scheme. Like other GR Sport models, the interior of the new Wigo is expected to have special GR details.

The all-new Wigo has recently received a 4/5-star safety rating in the latest tests conducted by ASEAN NCAP. This rating positions the new hatchback as one of the safest cars in its segment.
