The Toyota Century SUV is a luxury flagship model in Japan that competes with renowned SUVs such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga. Starting at 25 million Yen (approximately 170,000 USD), this SUV establishes itself as a high-end option in the Japanese market.

The Toyota Century SUV is currently exclusive to the Japanese market and follows the same distribution approach as its sedan counterpart.

While the company has unveiled various versions of the Century SUV, the regular variant is currently the only one available.

The Century SUV is equipped with a 3.5L V6 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, delivering a total output of 406 horsepower. This powertrain, accompanied by a CVT transmission and the eFour four-wheel drive system, bears similarities to the Lexus TX550h+ drivetrain, known for its luxurious performance.

According to Toyota, the Century SUV has an electric range of 69 km based on Japan’s WLTC test standard. It can be fully charged within approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes using a 200V/30A wall-mounted charger.

The Century SUV offers different driving modes, including Normal, Eco, Sport, and a unique ‘Rear Comfort’ mode optimized for the comfort of rear passengers.

Thanks to its four-wheel steering system, the Century SUV delivers effortless handling at low speeds and smooth, natural handling at medium to higher speeds.

The Century SUV measures 5,205 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, with a wheelbase length of 2,950 mm. Compared to the 5-seater Century sedan model, the SUV is shorter by 130 mm but wider by 60 mm and taller by 300 mm.

In terms of design, the Century SUV draws attention with its two-tier LED headlight design, featuring 4 LED strips arranged in the shape of the letter L. The large grille features a distinctive honeycomb mesh and is adorned with a signature phoenix logo that has symbolized the Century sedan since 1967.

The sides of the SUV showcase bold raised lines, accompanied by standard 20-inch aluminum wheels. Larger 22-inch wheels are available as an optional feature.

In the rear, the Century SUV is adorned with a two-tier LED taillight design that echoes the shape of the headlights.

Similar to the sedan version, the Century SUV offers a range of iconic two-tone exterior color combinations. A total of 7 different combinations are available.

The interior of the Century SUV is designed with a focus on the comfort of rear passengers. Notable features include retractable aluminum steps, rear doors that open at a 75-degree angle, and large door handles for easy accessibility.

The rear seats are electrically adjustable and can be fully reclined for maximum relaxation. To provide ample space, the front passenger seat moves all the way forward, nearly touching the dashboard.

Additional amenities in the second row include a retractable table, two 11.6-inch screens mounted on the front seat headrests, two detachable 5.5-inch touch screen control panels, analog clocks, LED reading lights, and a refrigerator.

The cockpit area features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, heads-up display (HUD), and a 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment display.

Among other features, the Century SUV offers an 18-speaker audio system, wireless phone charger, digital rearview mirror, and heated steering wheel.

With a luggage capacity of 340 liters, the Toyota Century SUV will only be available at select dealerships in Japan. Toyota aims to sell approximately 30 units per month.
