At the 2023 LA Auto Show, Kia unveiled its latest electric concept models, the compact SUV EV3 and the sedan EV4, alongside the Sorento 2024 facelift. These concept models provide a glimpse into the upcoming commercial versions.

The EV3 is a compact SUV positioned below the mid-size EV5. Meanwhile, the EV4 is advertised as a four-door sedan with a coupe-like rear end, following the latest trend in the segment. Both concept models prioritize the interior design, focusing on natural materials while also striving to reduce carbon emissions.

Kia describes the EV3 as a downsized version of the EV9. While it shares the design language with its larger sibling, the EV3 still maintains its unique characteristics. For instance, the front and sides of the car feature more subtle curves instead of the EV9’s straight, sharp lines.

The EV3 concept offers an interior designed to enhance “happiness emotions.” It provides gentle lighting that adapts to your mood, comfortable seating, and a minimalist touch.

The seats of the EV3 are made from natural fibers with a robust and waste-free structure, outperforming carbon fibers. Additionally, the center control cluster of the EV3 concept is “grown” from mushroom roots through a process called biomanufacturing.

The EV4, a sedan model, displays clear SUV influences instead of the coupe style that Kia is promoting. The car features numerous sharp lines.

The interior of the EV4 follows the same path as the EV3, incorporating innovative materials into its structure. Instead of using mushroom roots, the control cluster of the EV4 is made from fabric produced from sisal fibers, a fast-growing plant that requires fewer resources for cultivation. Other areas of the Concept EV4’s interior utilize 100% recycled cotton, naturally dyed with madder root and walnut husk.

Moreover, the EV4 is equipped with Mind Mode settings, allowing the vehicle to adjust the air conditioning and ambient lighting systems. For instance, when you want to relax, the lights will dim and create a soothing atmosphere with soft color tones.

Kia has confirmed that the commercial version of the EV3 will be launched in 2024, while the commercial version of the EV4 will have its debut a little later.
