Unlike the regular Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 5 N is developed based on the brand’s Electric-Global Module Platform. It is equipped with a larger 84 kWh battery and upgraded electric motors both at the front and rear.
The front electric motor generates 222 horsepower, while the rear electric motor produces 378 horsepower. Combined, both motors deliver an output of 601 horsepower and can go up to 641 horsepower in Boost mode, surpassing the power of the Kia EV6 GT. With this performance, the Ioniq 5 N can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.
The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N features fast charging technology, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Drivers can optimize battery performance with Hyundai’s N Battery Pre-conditioning system, choosing between Drag or Track mode. The N Race feature offers two additional modes for enhanced control over energy usage.
While Hyundai has not disclosed the weight of the Ioniq 5 N, it is confirmed to be heavier than the standard model. The Ioniq 5 N is equipped with larger wheels, a redesigned suspension system, new aerodynamic components, and an updated regenerative brake system, contributing to the weight increase. However, Hyundai has implemented software and other techniques to counterbalance the added weight.
Hyundai has equipped the Ioniq 5 N with its most powerful brake system yet, featuring 400 mm front discs with four-piston calipers and 360 mm rear discs. The brake system is constructed using new lightweight materials and hybrid structure, resulting in exceptional braking performance.
The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N also undergoes several design changes. It is 20 mm lower, 50 mm wider, and 80 mm longer than the standard model. The car features a new air splitter, active air diffuser, unique side sills, prominent fender vents, triangle-shaped brake lights, and a rear window wiper. It comes with standard 21-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 275/35 tires.
Inside the cabin, Hyundai has introduced a new N steering wheel with the brand’s logo for the first time. It includes four buttons – Drive Mode Select, N Grin Boost, and two N Custom buttons. The steering wheel also features paddle shifters and the N Pedal function located behind it.
Hyundai has enhanced the on-track comfort by adding a headrest pad and a footrest to the reinforced center control cluster, as well as a sliding armrest. The seating position has been lowered by approximately 0.79 inches, and the seats are upholstered with pixel-patterned fabric and leather or a combination of leather and eco-friendly Alcantara.
Hyundai has not disclosed the price of the Ioniq 5 N, but it is expected to be higher than the top-of-the-line Limited version, which starts at $53,935 USD (including shipping fees) in the US market. The car is anticipated to be available for sale next year.
