In September, AutoIndustriya.com reported that Isuzu has plans to launch an electric version of the D-Max, which would be a fully electric pickup truck. The production of this vehicle is expected to take place in Thailand.
However, according to Nikkei Asia, Isuzu has not officially provided any information about this fully electric pickup truck. Surprisingly, at the launch event of the D-Max facelift 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand, Isuzu Chairman and COO Shinsuke Minami confirmed the company’s plan to produce a fully electric pickup truck.
“Isuzu is actively working towards carbon neutrality. In the future, we plan to produce fully electric pickup trucks in Thailand. Initially, we will introduce this pickup truck in Europe and then expand to other markets, including Thailand,” said Mr. Minami.
Details about the upcoming Isuzu electric pickup truck are still unknown, but there are rumors that it will be based on the D-Max model.
Meanwhile, the newly launched Isuzu D-Max facelift 2024 has received significant upgrades in terms of design and technology. On the exterior, it features a redesigned front fascia with sleeker headlights, a new gray or black chrome grille, and an integrated air scoop on the lower bumper to enhance aerodynamics. Other exterior changes include updated LED taillights, new wheel designs, and more pronounced wheel arches.
Inside the cabin, the Isuzu D-Max facelift is equipped with steering-mounted paddle shifters, ventilated front seats, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster (an increase from the previous 4.2 inches), and USB-C ports both in the front and rear, replacing the USB-A ports.
The Isuzu D-Max facelift 2024 also comes with a “rough terrain mode” that is designed to assist in sudden braking and torque distribution to the wheels for optimal traction when climbing hills. It also has the ability to automatically lock the rear differential.
In the Thai market, the Isuzu D-Max 2024 is priced between 540,000 and 1,264,000 baht (equivalent to 356-834 million VND).
